OK, now we have a real Boston election

It's just not municipal election season until we hear the rumors about Menino winning re-election, getting Rob Consalvo elected city-council president and then stepping down so Consalvo can become mayor without an election. Oh, yeah, and the side rumor about Menino being Consalvo's godfather (he isn't).

Is the Mayors Joe Biden!

I personally will not be voting for ANYONE who is currently on the council for Mayor. We need someone from outside who can fight for the citizens of Boston and not its Unions.

Although, how might you plan on going up against the unions?

I've also always wondered what it would be like if the T went on strike.

T go on strike, they will be forced to bring in temps. And in the short-term probably save a ton of cash not having to pay for all the bloated salaries.

Every city election we have in Boston Union hacks from all over Mass come into the city to hold signs (many are paid to do so)for the Unions candidate. Many people don't realize this and only see the candidate being overwhelmingly supported. Because the majority of voters are uneducated (most voters blindly vote based on party lines) they vote for the POPULAR guy/gale.

If you look at the city, it residence are mostly employed by private companies and not Unions. The only way to beat the Unions is for ordinary citizen to organize in the same manor the Unions do. Only for the interest of themselves (City Residents) and not the minority Union members.

PS if the MBTA ever went on strike the angry citizens of Boston would lash out so vigorously that the Union would probably get disbanded.

Your grasp of both electoral politics and the collective bargaining agreements between the city and its constituent unions is staggering, anon. I'd suggest you run for office yourself, but I'm pretty sure campaign events are going to conflict with your regularly scheduled viewings of Murder She Wrote.

Current members of Boston City Council aren't good advocates of open government refusing to release the plain English stenographic record of the Public Meetings of Boston City Council. More complete than the summary called minutes, the stenographic record is available only in an undecipherable format while budgeted for with public funds !

Replacing current Boston City Council members with candidates that advocate open government is a priority that affects all the other issues.

The stenographic record can only be partially deciphered using open source Plover
http://plover.stenoknight.com/

RFP Request for Bids for stenographic services are to be advertised this year of the RFP cycle every 3 years. Instead of more than $60,000 for stenographic services with the Stenograph machine Boston City Council should be using the free open source Plover
http://groups.google.com/group/ploversteno

Of course, current practices are a fraud because Request for Bids not widely advertised as possible. Then the usual grandfathering in of the same stenographic services that cost more and have less features like no Captioning for hard of hearing on webcasts of Public Meetings of the City Council.

Proposed Staff Director Bernadette Moran Lally, less than the best people qualified for such role, isn't good for a City Council advocating open government FOI Freedom Of Information Public Records principles which the City Council offices are not

A new more appropriate title for the role would be better than the title Staff Director that is a misdirection. The person in that role takes responsibility for releasing or in this case not releasing public records of Boston City Council. Staff Directors at Boston City Council have violated public records FOI Freedom Of Information open government principles. More candidates are needed for Staff Director
