There'll be no sticker campaign for Nick Collins, so don't even think it

David Bernstein reports Therese Murray even got involved, with her office calling up the Collins camp to say exactly how displeased she'd be if Collins supporters tried an end run against the primary results with a sticker campaign against primary winner Linda Dorcena Forry. So grumpy Southie residents fuming about how the election was stolen from them somehow will just have to stay grumpy.

A fourth generation South Bostonian gave it away. Now she's the most reviled dancing, pizza eating, used clothes saleswoman in the town.

Real classy move by the Collins family, led by daddy Jim and Maryann Crush. You lost. Take it like a man and just run against Forry next year. But you won't do that because then you'd have to give up your rep seat.

The only people that revile her are people such as yourself, and since people such as you are on the way out (way out to Quincy/Weymouth/wherever) your opinion of her is kind of irrelevant.

Just wait until the 1st St condos start coming online,we are gonna run this town!

You are a real political genius, let the hate go,will you. If you have a problem, then run for office, and stop hiding behind the keyboard . Move on!

Tom, people in glass house shouldn't throw stones! The hate that the Citizens Assn. showed toward Dahill at your banquet this year in front politicians, priests, nuns and other dignitaries was embarassing. As president, you should have publicly apologized to her (maybe you did privately), and that night's award winners as Bernie O'Donnell's comments about her (not to mention calling gays radicals and comparing them to David Duke and the KKK-seriously, he did that) took the spotlight away from them as all anyone talked about after is what a buffoon he is. So hate is ok with you as long as it is not aimed at your family. I'm not even sure why you think that comment shows hate. You must have a guilty conscience as you know your cousin pushed her into that race. What goes around comes around. See you at the rink.

What do Southie people think Forry is going to do to Southie? Ruin Southie for families by letting developers condo every square inch of their town? Oh, Lynch, Hart, Flaherty, Linehan and Collins already let them do that.

Collins was invited because its the right thing to do by the State Democratic Party. You know, like when he won state rep and McGonigle, Bombard and McGee showed up at Perkins Sq to show Democratic unity even after collins ran a dirty campaign. He didn't show at Linda's standout (pizza party) because Daddy Jim would let him and he is a sore loser.

Why do I think that this won't be difficult...?

Said it once, I'll say it again. No more life long townie politicians for Boston!

We need an outsider, CEO for a mayor. That is the only way Boston can move up to the level of SF, NYC, Chicago, LA and DC.

I live in Southie, and this election is the end of a long, loooong period of cronie-ism.

and all that I can say is thank God you Yuppies don't vote or Southie would have been gone a long time ago. Stay around party and move out in 2 years when you knock up your girlfriend Muffy. Then you can keep up with your Yuphole friends on "Caught in Southie".

Let me give you some inside information: there are several types of yuppies. The types that drive Audi's and buy expensive condos aren't the kids getting wasted at Stats and renting. Your more likely to people like myself pushing an Uppa Baby stroller then walking home with a 30 pack. In other words, a lot of us here to stay.

the average condo in Southie goes on the market every 28-36 months. That means that the yuppies are buying, having fun for a few years, and then sells it. It's a perpetual sale and I make money of you fools each time.

Misleading stats, Rob. Over the past 10 years, Southie has had a ton of NEW construction condos that yuppies did not sell. Just off the top of my head I can think of 5 large buildings (not sure how many units) around Broadway station (with another one about to go online), several huge condo complexes around West 1st and 2nd Streets (also with more being built), not to mention the Waterfront and Fort Point areas. Also difficult to factor in are the 2 and 3 family homes that get condo-ed by the family that moved to the South Shore years ago after their elderly parents pass away. There's at least 4 of those (4 units each-have to condo the basement too) on the 2 blocks near my house in the last 5 years. I'd like to see some stats on new construction and 1, 2 and 3 families converted to condos over the past 10-20 years.

Rob hit the nail on the head. The 1st floor condo in my building has had 5 different owners in the past 13 years. Fortunately, they were all owner occupiers and not rented out.
My cousin who admittedly will tell you he's a scumbag realtor, tells me of units he has listed, sold and resold multiple times and makes a decent commission each time. Not to mention the renting fools who give him 1st, last month and security deposits.

If Realtors knew anything about statistics, they wouldn't be realtors. In other words, I'm sure Rob's data is purely anecdotal or else he would've (should've) cited a source.
