“We actually could be the first large urban district to truly close the achievement gap for African-American and Latino students living in poverty,” said Jason Williams, executive director of Stand for Children’s Massachusetts affiliate. “That’s a tremendous opportunity.”

How about we make our city's public schools so sclerotic, nonsensical, dangerous, and unappealing that African-American and Latino students living in poverty only have to be compared with white and Asian students living in poverty? That would help close the achievement gap.
