Woman's body found in Stony Brook Reservation, may have been dumped there

UPDATE: Police say Amy Lord was murdered in the forest.

UPDATE: Victim identified; murder might be related to another South Boston stabbing.

Boston Police are investigating the murder of a woman whose body was found around 4 p.m. in Stony Brook Reservation off Enneking Parkway in Hyde Park.

The female appeared to be the victim of an assault.

The Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports:

The deceased, an adult female whose remains were spotted by a passerby, has been tentatively identified but her name is not being released at this time. The circumstances of her death remain the subject of a very active investigation, which is expected to continue through the night.

That Boston Police detectives are leading the investigation indicates they indicate they believe the murder occurred elsewhere and that the body was dumped in the reservation. Normally, State Police investigate murders and other suspicious deaths that take place on state land, such as the reservation, which is owned by the Department of Conservation and Recreation.

The reservation, a 475-acre forest where Roslindale, West Roxbury and Hyde Park meet, is a normally quiet area where not much happens. It did once form the setting for a Rizzoli and Isles murder mystery.

Wasn't another body found a few weeks ago in the same area near the neponset river? Never heard an ID or any updates on that. We need to get some follow up from the police on these

This in from the DA's office on both the man by the river and the woman on the beach:

Autopsies showed no signs of violence to either body. Tox screens pending for both but not foul play not suspected in either case.

The body found 2 weeks ago was under the bridge that crosses the Neponset River and the adjascent Fairmount Line tracks over to Truman Parkway. The area was popular with teenagers drinking under the bridge and/or an occasional homeless person looking to snooze. The remains may not have even been identified yet which is why you haven't heard anything yet.

Scary story

I'd like more information about the neighborhood and circumstances surrounding the kidnapping.

The story says they know she was abducted at knife point from South Boston, so did people see her get abducted? Are there photos of the suspects from the ATM?

It's weird that someone can be abducted off the street and we don't hear about it until a body is found.

My son just called me from the area wondering what's going on there. He says still a very active police scene and they are diverting traffic. How great it was to tap into UHub and get a report on this. Again, thanks.

I'm confused. I drove the length of Enniking pkwy last night at 5PM and again this morning. Either case, no police, no traffic. Where is the police activity roughly?

reference? Second: it's funny when you read it, because there is really no place for a stakeout there, unless the cops were perched in the trees...

Sent me a message about it. The description of the roads seemed accurate (stakeout in the parking lot for the ballfield?), but BPD doesn't use 10-codes (Transit Police do).

Is missing? Crown Point Drive is only a block or two from the park. This is depressing; I spend a lot of time running and walking in the Stony Brook.

Everytime I bike there I notice a lot of men who appear to waiting in their cars for something, always figured it was one of those places where craigslist hookups happen.

I've never seen a woman there apparently waiting for a hook up. It's very rare to see a woman walking/running/biking truly alone there. I say truly as I've run into women "alone", like myself, walking their dog there.

... who maintain their "arrangements" by slipping out to local hook up areas on the side.

Mystic Lakes in Medford/Winchester has several such places, usually the men are quite old. I've seen the climbing back and forth into cars from the water before.

Maybe this homicide will be solved because the State Police are involved. They solved the double shooting at the MDC pool not far from there a couple years back.
