Pressley to challenge Linehan's ascendancy to City Council president

MassLive reports at-large Councilor Ayanna Pressley has decided she'd like a go at running the City Council and so will make fellow councilors choose between her and District 2 Councilor Bill Linehan.

On the other side of the fifth floor at City Hall, Marty Walsh has selected a former aide to Tom Menino and a current exec at the Huffington Post as his chief of staff, the Dorchester Reporter reports.

A doer v. a don't-bother. Clear enough.

Has Ayanna accomplished anything as a councilor? Her liquor license thing is not an accomplishment either. It still needs support at state house to pass as law, which will never happen. Also does she ever even come to work? I hear she shows up once a week for council meetings and now she wants to be president ... Seriously?

Will the new President of Boston City Council update software used for Proceedings?... for example Stenographic software should be used that's accessible for hard of hearing folks, that the plain text Stenographic Record be readily available for hard of hearing folks. Current protocol at Boston City Council is improper and wrongful. The original stenographic file is removed from City Hall instead of remaining at City Hall and a copy made for the editing. The Contract provides for it. Help get released the plain text Stenographic Record of Public Meetings of Boston City Council for hard of hearing folks. More complete than Minutes the Stenographic Record is only released in an inaccessible format that requires an additional file held back by the City Stenographer in spite of the contract providing for all materials are city property

"All work papers, reports, questionnaires and other written materials prepared or collected by the Contractor in the course of completing the work to be performed under this Contract shall at all times be the exclusive property of the City."

The City Council is violating Title IIA of the ADA. I contacted Sal LaMatinna's office last Summer to request a meeting and was repeatedly ignored.

I've been going back and forth with the Mayor's Commission on Disabilities since July to set up a meeting and get an answer and they continuously ignore, stall, delay.

They are legally required to provide a reasonable accommodation for anyone that wants to attend City Council meetings. They're violating the law and discriminating against PWDs.

Ayanna's crocodile tears for Chuck Turner vs. Bill's beclowning himself over the St. Patrick's Day breakfast.

Are there any other choices?
