UPDATE: Victim identified as Trevain "Freshy" Keene.
Stanley Staco reports a man was shot in the head around 6:25 p.m. behind 82 Callender St.
Boston Police report the victim was in his 20s and was shot several times.
I cant believe Boston has 5 already i thought it would be like 0-2 at this time judging by how soft Boston got last year
... this (offensive) troll?
If you do not feed the trolls they do go away. Just ignore the jackass.
We get it, you're shocked at the running tally of murders in Boston. No more, please.
If not the obvious troll, can you eliminate the gang posturing below?
The hood rats have found this place. They are not adding to the discussion and I'm a bit surprised they are getting by Adams filter.
I'm far more inclined to let folks who knew the victim post something. I realize it means a form of online English most UHub readers aren't used to, but everybody deserves a chance to say their piece, especially about somebody they will never see again.
Two of them in the comment titled "young og" below
It's not the non-standard English I'm opposed to, as I use it all the time when I'm not at work or dealing with the public. It's the "OG" and "wavy" and their connotations. But it's your site, so if you don't want to nip it in the bud before it becomes a "UHub thuggin' gone wrong" kind of situation, that's your call.
"OG" and "Wavy" are not part of the Somerville-standard dialect, at least among my semi-superannuated age group. Can you tell us what they mean to people half my age in Dorchester?
Crazy kuzz Fresh wanted to b jus like us
But your hiding behind a keyboard, freshy was nothing like yall b!+€h made niggas man #WAVYBOYZ
They were making money last year to by guns for this year to settle on going beefs you can't make money on streets if you going around shooting people.
Fairly certain this address is in Mattapan???
NPR just reported that this address is in Mattapan, not Dorchester?
And that's the "Mattapan" police district, even though it covers a fair bit of Dorchester as well. Here's the exact wording in the BPD statement:
At about 6:23pm, on Friday, January 24, 2014, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to an outside scene for a report of a person shot
So a reporter could be forgiven, I guess, if they assume that means the shooting is in Mattapan. Iif there were an incident at the Back Bay Hilton, BPD would say the response was from "District D-4 (South End)" ...
In this case, the shooting scene is well north of Morton Street, so I'm going to say it's Dorchester, with the caveat that let's not forget the real point here: Somebody died.
I come to uhub for the news, but stay to read people arguing about which 'neighborhood' a particular address is in.
I go zip code on this:
I'm sure it's been posted
The passing of this young man is very unfortunate, condolences to his family.
If people want Adam to start being subjective with comments, UHub will not be as enjoyable to read. I have seen swears in other posts and in this situation the "racial slur" word was not being used as a racial slur. I have overheard conversations where that word is used 3 times in each sentence. I don't know if I'd call it a term of endearment, but that is just how some people talk to each other.
Honestly, did many people understand what either of those posts even meant?
Also, it is not wavy to have passed away so young, and real G's would not comment on Uhub.
I think comment 1 was a attempt to copy a rappers wordz(cheif keef) & comment 2 was someone sticking up for their dead friend. Waveyboyz lookz to be a crew...IMO
