Tetris writ large

Tetris at MIT

Chris Snyder watched Tetris being played on MIT's Green Building.

The building was first transformed into a Tetris board in 2012.

There's a 1/87 scale version of this at the MIT model train club down the street - very funny (and you can play it).

They should really be careful!

They might give someone a relapse!

The Tetris effect (also known as Tetris Syndrome) occurs when people devote so much time and attention to an activity that it begins to pattern their thoughts, mental images, and dreams. It is named after the video game Tetris.

People who play Tetris for a prolonged amount of time may then find themselves thinking about ways different shapes in the real world can fit together, such as the boxes on a supermarket shelf or the buildings on a street.

I wonder if last night's repeat hack at MIT was inspired by the news that an even larger building in Philadelphia was used for a Tetris game just a week ago?
