Finally, Boston gets the libertarian radio station it deserves

Boston Radio Watch reports Yahoo Radio Boston at 1510 is going away before most of you had ever even heard of it, to be replaced by "a mix of libertarian and personality driven radio shows featuring some of the biggest names in the industry like Glenn Beck, Jay Mohr, Alex Jones and The Dr. K Show!"

Glenn Beck and Alex Jones aren't libertarians. Beck is Republican, no matter what he may claim, and Jones is just a conspiracy lunatic. I've never heard of Jay Mohr, and I don't even know what the hell the Dr K Show is. I don't know any libertarians who like Beck or Jones unless their mental health is questionable.

Beck sold out, jumped the shark, and screwed the pooch a long time ago.

radio these days, but apparently he has been a guest fixture on national sports-talk radio for a while, and most recently replaced Jim Rome on Fox Sports Radio.

You would almost certainly recognize him as an actor and stand-up comic. His best-known Hollywood role is Tom Cruise's rival in the sports-agent business in Jerry Maguire.

I wonder if his role at this station will also be a call-in sports talk gabber. That would be an odd mix with the assortment of raving right-wing conspiracy clowns and hucksters this lineup features.

Really? Glenn Beck I could see (considering Beck is mostly just a fascist), but Alex Jones strikes me as a pretty doctrinaire libertarian - I agree his conspiracy shtick is tinfoil-hat worthy, but in terms of policies he supports he seems representative of the anarcho-capitalist side of things.

Also, he and Ron Paul are friends, and Mr. Paul is a frequent guest on his show: http://www.infowars.com/ron-paul-warns-of-martial-law-and-economic-colla...

Unless Ron Paul isn't a libertarian either.

His entire shtick is pandering to gullible paranoiacs with the most absurd conspiracy theories imaginable. This is the guy who yelled "False flag operation!" about the Marathon bombings: he suggested with a straight face (actually a red, spittle-flecked face) that the FBI staged it as part of an insidious effort to expand their powers.

That's just sickening. This asshole doesn't actually believe a word of his own bullshit: he's just a bomb-tosser exploiting the fears of the ignorant and the mentally ill for personal profit. Whatever his politics, in practice, he's the most repugnant kind of snake-oil salesman, an inflammatory charlatan.

exploiting the fears of the ignorant and the mentally ill

So what you're saying is he's a libertarian in the grand tradition of Ayn Rand and Von Mises.

Unless "wants to control women's reproductive systems with the force of law" doesn't count.

It's true that Ron Paul isn't a libertarian so much as a "state's right's advocate." It's also true that libertarians consider him among the leaders of the movement, except for a few contrarians, and that most libertarians are pretty much on the same page as he is.

Libertarians vary on how their principles apply to various issues, such as abortion.

Thankfully the target audience has tinfoil hats on, which will help with reception.

I was a site monkey for a general contractor and got to see how various trades selected their work accompaniment noise.

The finish carpenters out there liked various kinds of classic rock or sports talk.

That covered most of the trades that made real money and the ones that scraped by had more anger and angry radio got em through the day.

The cemetery demo votes reliably early and often long after the funeral.

Jimmy Severino and Michael Graham wash up on the shore of this deserted radio island?

Forever ago, btw, this frequency used to be WMEX.

Packed up his old kit bag and moved down to Atlanta, where I'm sure he'll be a great success! Until he gets fired. Again.

Believe it's a FM news/talk station. Someday I hope he'll explain how someone who calls his show "The Natural Truth" can wear such a unnatural-looking rug in public.

Dr K appears to be the Kevin Wallis mentioned in the press release.

Something's really wrong when useful and popular Touch 106 is forced off the air, and yet this useless dreck remains.

The "Campaign for Liberty" recently had an internet raffle for an AR-15. All you had to do was provide an email address.

I was kind of appalled by it. They do require the bare minimum, such as a background check and all that, if you win. But I still just found it kind of grotesque in a way. As if there's nothing important going on. Why not persuade people to be good gun owners? No, let's just raffle a gun off, complete with a scope and other frills.

DJ: You're the 10th caller on WUFC!
Caller: Woohoo! I win!!!
DJ: Actually, we're not going to give you the 1000 bitcoin.
Caller:Wait...why?
DJ: That would just encourage you to be lazy, you leech!!
Caller: What?
DJ: Instead the prize will be given to a prominent CEO as a reward for his job creation! Thanks for playing.
