I'm guessing that it was after the Great Roxbury Fire of May 15, 1894 or after the Great Fire of 1872.

Phillips Brooks was said to have said "I never knew how much I loved the old pile until I saw it on fire".

There used to be a plaque on the Hawley Street side of Filene's about the building. I wonder where it is now.

Looks like George E Stedman & Co. was located at 6 Winter Street so yeah in modern-day Downtown Crossing. This seems right.

This one was easier than we thought it would be. It is indeed Trinity Church on Summer Street, right after the fire of 1872.
