This infographic tells a clear and compelling story about how charter school expansion affects public school funding. I support public education and I think that we need to change the funding mechanism for charter schools so that expanding them does not mean causing damage to good public schools, which educate the vast majority of school age children in Massachusetts.

By the way,Massachusetts students once again are top in the nation and school districts that have a high percentage of children from low income families are the districts that score lower in aggregate on standardized tests. We have a poverty problem, not a bad school problem and we know how mitigate it.

So public money through the Mass School Building Assistance Agency is going to pay to transform the Dearborn into a charter? After hours and hours of work by city employees on the public payroll went into it. All so a charter school organization with limited (-2 years?)experience can run it? Oh wait, isn't that the group that a former School Committee member now working in city government helped found? Can't expect the Globe "education" reporter to report that, he's in the bag for dropped dimes, note all the Monday "exclusives" Mr. Bag Job gets.

Or does this fall into the realm of no-bid contracts?
