Roslindale man charged as pot dealer while on probation for being a pot dealer

A Roslindale man only back in the neighborhood for a year after finishing a federal sentence as a pot dealer was arrested yesterday afternoon on a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Ruddys Pimentel, 32, was arrested after police armed with a search warrant forced their way into his residence at 9 Ridge St. and found 5 1/2 pounds of marijuana, Boston Police report.

In 2011, Pimentel and several other men were convicted for a scheme in which they grew marijuana in Fresno, CA, allegedly for sale in California dispensaries, but actually in Boston, where marijuana sales at the time were completely illegal. Pimentel and his accomplices operated out of a house on Birch Street in Roslindale.

Pimentel was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison and three years' probation. In July, his probation - scheduled to end in August, 2016 - was transferred from California to Boston when he moved back to Roslindale.

In yesterday's raid, police also recovered "a Sig Sauer 9MM semi-automatic firearm loaded with ten rounds of live ammunition." However, Pimentel has not been charged with possession of the weapon.

The Suffolk County District Attorney's office requested $50,000 bail at his arraignment today in West Roxbury Municipal Court. Judge Debra DelVecchio instead set bail at the $2,500 he posted after his arrest yesterday. She also denied a request from prosecutors to outfit Pimentel with a GPS device while charges are pending, the DA's office reports.

Innocent, etc.

I drove by there yesterday @ 5pm and there were two fire trucks outside. I wonder if there was a fire which was somehow related to the warrant? Seems like odd timing.

This isn't this gentleman's first time at the rodeo:

I just rewrote the post to reflect that fact - and to add in info from his arraignment today - thanks!

Maybe you should rewrite your whole article to defect the facts. This gentleman has been home for over a year. The gun was not found in his home.

Thank you for that. I was going off a court document filed 7/9/14 to transfer his probation from California to Massachusetts, but yes, that doesn't mean he didn't come back on that date.

As for the gun, BPD says it was one of the things officers found "during their search of the residence."

Legalize it!

But guys like Ruddy will just find something else. These dudes have mastered the art of black market trafficking and dealing with law enforcement.

Weed is bulky. There are other things much easier to conceal and move.

Bad idea, stoner boy. We don't need anymore drug use in family neighborhoods. Legalize pot use and then every single apartment building is going to be filled with a pot haze. Maybe that's your thing, but most of us have jobs, families and responsibilities. Ever hear of drug tests? Many people need them in order to work in certain industries.

1) Any more drug use? With pot possession now being a $25 ticket, do you think anyone is deterred from using it that would suddenly light up all the time tomorrow if it were suddenly legal? Do you see families escaping Colorado in droves because their "family neighborhood" has gone to shit with pot now being legal?

2) Filled with pot haze? Again, Colorado doesn't seem to have an issue. Your canary isn't dead...it's thriving in legal weed tax money.

3) Drug tests?? Haha! I'd love to see a drug test story where somebody failed because their neighbor lit up too often. People living in the same apartment with a pot fiend have taken clean drug tests before. Don't be a buffoon.

Agreed. A pothead would never agree. We don't need unproductive stoners all over town

As opposed to when I lived in Allston and the smell of puke wafted through the halls after the drunken college idiots got home after 2AM.

Yes its much better that the kids just use safe legal oxycodone. No smell, and it keeps em quiet. Do you really think that the only thing keeping everyone in the city from smoking pot is the law? I got news for you, legal or not anyone who wants to smoke does, and people who don't, believe it or not, typically don't. All the law does is fill up prisons.

In other words, legalizing marijuana means better control and LESS access for minors. It does not appear to affect the driving death rate. AND ... use of pot DID NOT increase - illegal users simply became legal users, and those who say "no thanks" still say "no thanks".

since this:

Which still has not been solved as far as I know and which still haunts me.

Glad in this case the police got him before there was violence (at least that we know of).
