After last night's debate, Baker has my vote.

Anyone know what she plans on doing after she loses the election?

Use her cronies to find every Baker voter and harass them for 10+ years? Speak to the lack of education in the state by calling out every third party voter?

As a lame duck AG she won't have enough time. So my guess is collecting a fat pension.

Hopefully this will be her last gasp. She f'ed up the Senate race, and now she's about to do the same in the race for governor.

People who voted for her f'ed up the Senate race and soon to conclude Gov race. This is after all a democracy.

She'll make boatloads in the private sector.

And then attack herself for making so much?

As I suspected, Falchuk did not win in his attempt to be included in the previous debate.

Nope

I understand the ruling, but it's really a shame on at least two counts.

1 - The Judge has said, basically, that private media outlets can decide elections by including or excluding whomever they wish from debates held by that private media outlet. This has been the case, so no change there, but it sucks. We haven't seen this scenario happen yet, but the ruling leaves the door open for any broadcast outlet to exclude either a Democratic or Republican candidate from a debate and basically give an hour (or longer) infomercial to the other major party candidate of their choice. I'd love to see that happen so we could witness some hack judge coughing up furballs behind the bench in an effort to stop it.

2 - Falchuk is a serious candidate with well-thought ideas and he has explained his positions succinctly. When he was included in a debate, he kept the feet of both Coakley and Baker to the fire. He deserved better.

I don't agree with all that he says - as a matter of fact, I disagree with quite a bit of it - but Falchuk will get my vote because either Baker or Coakley could have pushed for his inclusion and then not taken part if that inclusion was not granted. Since neither one did the right thing, the one for whom I was going to vote lost my vote.

Unfortunately, Baker seems out of touch with the average worker. I just don't think he has a command of the issues that the middle class in Massachusetts faces. Massachusetts needs a leader who is going to BRING jobs to the state, not outsource jobs to India and conduct massive layoffs while tripling one's own personal salary. How many people did he add to unemployment which we the tax payers had to pick up the tab for? Do you know how many jobs he could have saved by NOT TRIPLING HIS OWN SALARY? Fiscally reckless and ethically challenged.

This really does make me wonder. How many people would turn down their salary being tripled? I wouldn't.

This would make a good Uhub poll.

What are we talking about for the original salary? yeah 3x 25k is a fine jump. But when we're talking about millions.. x3 is a large jump.

Pant Suit runs for Pres, will you criticize her for charging $250,000 per speech? What about Liz Warren? $450,000 to teach one class is rather high, no?

Was his salary increased or was his total compensation tripled? Big difference.

Maybe he had incentives that cashed in after a few years and his total compensation increased a lot. That happens a lot. A CEO will get a base salary but the real money kicks in with incentives, options, etc.

a) the board sets it

b) the AG (not Coakley at the time) has to sign off on it

If you want to argue he should give it all away, fine. But other than the bonuses he gets for good performance/meeting goals also set by the board and approved by the AG - he has no control over his comp.

Vote against him - fine -but if that's your reason you are uninformed.

There were massive layoffs? Or are you just making this up?

Besides, a CEO's salary has no effect on the staffing levels thru the company. None.

Barney Frank's case for casinos no liberal argument.

All the other links in the above post are to fact-based reporting. I think if one is going to offer a curated list of articles on a topic, it makes sense to clearly distinguish between opinion and straight-up reporting pieces.

And you don't even link to Barney's original piece - you link to a rebuttal - and a fairly snarky and unfocussed one at that. Even the picture of Mr. Frank being used by WGBH seems calculated to leave a negative impression on the reader. I'm disappointed with WGBH - unfortunately, I'm finding most of their election coverage to be below par this time around.

attack on Coakley is fact based? "Coakley denies she was reluctant to investigate DiMasi" is a hatchet job spun by the Pioneer Institute. A Koch backed big business lackey landing spot for Greg Sullivan and Globe contributor Jim Stergios, Charlie Baker, Beth Lindstrom etc, etc. The local beautiful people think tank.

It is a fact that she didn't prosecute DiMasi, no? Has she explained why?

Charlie to explain his New Jersey deal.

As this is a MA Governors Race. I'm waiting for Martha to explain National Grid?

up
Voting closed 0

Yes, Baker may have a campaign finance violation of his own (to match Coakley's), but that's not what I'm asking. If she is calling Sullivan a liar and people are questioning his ethics, shouldn't Coakley answer the question? Why then, did she not prosecute DiMasi?

Cognos was/is a Canadian company. Monies were exchanged over wire between a foreign company and a now convicted Massachusetts politician. Sounds like a federal case but that doesn't fit the Baker narrative.

Seriously? Far-left WGBH intentionally harming a fellow liberal? Good luck finding a picture of Barney Frank that leaves a positive impression. If they could have, they would have.

The Boston City Council Election of Council President for next year would do well to get a Councilor who would release the Full Transcript of Captions from Webcasts/Cablecasts of the weekly Public Meetings and open the City Council Library/Archives to digitization for the public. Communications of Boston City Council need to be made ever more clear, understandable and interactive using new technologies/software. For example, Councilor Wu would be a good selection for Council President next year.

So, since we know that Linehan was told not to do so, we'll just have to find one that is willing to break the law.
