Roslindale says thanks

Sign that thanks Tom Menino in Roslindale

Somebody mounted an old Menino sign at Adams Park, in front of a flag flying at half staff.

Roslindale was part of Tom Menino's old city-council district, and as a councilor, he helped create the city's first Main Streets program there.

Last night WGBH's "Greater Boston" ran a full hour dedicated to Mayor Menino's impact on the city. For the final 20 min they ran a piece profiling then-city council candidate Menino as he campaigned in 1984. It's an amazing West Zone time capsule including a community meet-up where he talks about revitalization of Roslindale Square as one of his top priorities. You can view it on-line here: http://wgbhnews.org/greater-boston-and-beat-press-live-stream (scroll to 39:22).

He can't see it. He's dead.

Pretty cool move, right there.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that Howie's fat ass couldn't resist mocking Menino in his "tribute" in today's Herald.

It'd be like if Howie passed and I penned a "tribute" that began something like:

"I could mention how Riddick Bowe had sex with Howie's wife, but I'm not going to do that. What am I, a knucklehead?"

The perfect touch. There might be nowhere in the city where Tom Menino's positive impact was more felt than in Roslindale Square.
