Man shot in Hyde Park's Georgetowne development

UPDATE: The more seriously injured victim died.

Shortly after 11 p.m. in an apartment at 226 Margaretta Dr., in a fight involving a woman, her boyfriend and her ex-boyfriend. The victim, one of the two men, was shot in the stomach by the other man. Because of the seriousness of his injuries, the homicide unit was summoned. The other man was also injured; unclear how or how seriously.

It's Boston's fourth shooting of the night.

In January, a knife fight at 139 Margareta Dr. left one man dead.

And now to enrage the masses...its not solely the fault of gun makers, lobbyists, nuts, lovers etc to secure the guns, not support less restrictions,be concerned with lives that may not bearing on theirs. Its up to the families/communities to do something to stem this culture of violence, whatever that community may look like.

Georgetown was a nice place? Now it's filled with section 8 trash that leak crime out into the surrounding area.

Statistics please.

"When you have a talking dog, you don't need statistics."

When it opened, Georgetown had a large population of seniors, including many Jewish residents. Now, it does have a large Section 8 population, drug dealing has been a problem for many years, and the occasional shooting keeps residents on their toes. No stats needed.

Here are some stats for you all. 30% of Gt residents have Section 8. That means 2x as much, 60%, DON't have Section 8. There have been 2 incidents involving the police this entire year and nothing for man years prior. Most of the jewish senior had Section 8 because of their fixed low-income from social security etc. Section 8 does not guarantee crime.

And the last time I saw the pond, there was vegetation choking it. That's my remember when.

Sure, there's been a bit more violence coming from the development, but that could just be a few bad apples. All I've been reading about leaks into the surrounding area may just be the cars that cannot be parked there. If the worst problem facing the abutters is parking, your problems are not that great.

And I don't remember hearing about many incidents of violence being reported, such as shootings, and the like.

So I am really not sure how much crime is being leaked into the surrounding area from Georgetown.

And your trash comment is pretty crappy.

All of you are missing the point. Regardless of it once being a "safe neighborhood" or what have you, there was a 23 year old shot and killed by a 53 year old. Darison was such a kind kid, always saying hello and asking how you were, always willing to tell a joke. Although crime is heavier in some neighborhoods, I live in one of the most dangerous in the city "h-block" crime has no doors or walls, guns find themselves in the hands of the richest and poorest. There are so many questions left unanswered. What was this girl doing dating a 53 year old and 23 year old? Did both parties have guns? Usually when people are armed, they are worried about their safety. Why did darison have to die? What could have been done to prevent this? You people shouldn't be fighting over "trashy people with section 8" as you have no idea why they need section 8 (besides the obvious reason -- lack of affordable housing) you should be wondering why such a young life was taken away. Someone lost a son, a grandson, a brother, and a best friend.
