Man shot dead at same Dudley Street intersection where a man was shot dead in September

UPDATE: Victim identified as William Davis, 20.
David Finnerty reports a man was shot around 1:35 p.m. at West Cottage and Dudley streets. Boston Police report the man, in his 20s, was taken to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
In September, a man died after being shot in the face at that intersection.

Neighborhood should be turning around
That's terrible, hope he makes it. I lived across the street for 3 years. That neighborhood has such potential being on the Fairmount Line, I was at South Station in 10 minutes, and now it has hourly service, including weekends. Things like this aren't going to exactly encourage investment though.

I live around the block from this, and I have to say that while there are still incidents like this, the neighborhood is coming up pretty quickly. The South End is starting to creep this way, and with the development going on in Dudley Square I only anticipate it getting better.
South end?
well i lived in the south end couple years ago on mass ave and tremont and i worked on dudley right near this area.. the areas were pretty much night and day.. far as i'm concerned the south end sprawl stopped right around melnea kass a good mile/ mile and a half from here.
not that the area isn't improving i never felt unsafe working in the area though one time got stopped and questioned about a homicide around 1:30 in the afternoon. just doesn't feel nothing like the south end LOL

As officers were trying to revive the victim, preforming CPR, a woman in the crowd screamed out at the officers, "LOOK AT THEM TRYING TO UNDO WHAT THEY DONE!" as fellow officers were locating a group of suspects a block away, chasing them into a house.
Members of our community need to recognize the reality of the world we are living in, focus on facts, not social media rumors, and we all need to work together to work to an end the cycle of violence. It will be only with the help of the community that we will make the city better.

there is only one name for whats going on in our communities! IGNORANCE!!! people need to start taking responsibility for their own actions and stop putting a label and a color on things! starting with the police officers ending with the people withing our communities.. officers have earned their bad rep just as some in our city have as well! mothers covering up for their kids wrong doing,fathers missing in action, young men and woman worried for about the latest technology and brand name in fashion other then focusing on the better and bigger picture in life! Seems as if animals have more compassion and respect for another human life then humans themselves! live and let live,LOVE IS WHAT WE NEED!

As disgusting as this gun violence is, I am encouraged to read a range of intelligent and realistic comments here. Murder has no color. It is simply evil. Those in any community who enable it are also encouraging it, no matter what their rationalization is. Many people contributed to the making of a Whitey Bulger, including his powerful politico brother, for instance. I hope those who really believe Black lives matter start dropping a dime on the creeps who are ruining potentially decent neighborhoods for decent folks.
