Waving in the new year

First Night parade down Boylston Street in Copley Square

A little cold weather didn't deter First Nighters from enjoying the traditional parade down Boylston Street tonight.

Marchers wished watchers a happy new year; some threw glow sticks or applied reflective stickers to the faces of little kids:

What would a parade be without dragons?

After the dragons came several groups organized as trains on each of the four subway lines:

One truck driver said enough of this "Not Art" stuff:

Plenty of stilt walkers walked:

One puppet towered over Boylston:

The parade ended at Charles Street, followed by the traditional 7 p.m. "family" fireworks.
