Just in time for summer: New ice-cream place in Fields Corner wins approval

The Boston Licensing Board today approved a license for Chill on Park, an ice cream shop at 142 Park St. in Fields Corner.

The shop will offer locally sourced products from Puritan Ice Cream in Roslindale. It will also serve coffee and pastries.

At a hearing yesterday, manager Wendy Issokson told the board that the store would work with the Dorchester Boys and Girls Club and Tina Chery, founder of the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute and Mother's Day Walk for Peace, to find local kids to staff the shop in the summer.

The mayor and at-large City Councilor Ayanna Pressley both formally supported the license request.

I live less than a 10 minute walk from there, so much for my diet.

Will they become Chili on Park in the winter?

I noticed the new place and popped in Sunday. The coffee I got was lukewarm, but the ice cream was good. They're in the space Royal Tree Hair Care used to have, right around the corner from Dot Ave.

I went last week! The shop is beautiful, very nicely decorated. The staff were great, very nice; they let us know we could sample any flavor we'd like. The ice cream was great. Awesome addition to the neighborhood!
