Who abandoned Patriots linebacker's expensive car on 495 with front-end damage?

State Police report they are investigating how Brandon Spikes's Mercedes Maybach came to be abandoned on the 495 median strip around 3:30 a.m. - and whether some fresh front-end damage might be related to a Nissan SUV getting hit from behind not far away on 495 northbound.

State Police say they were alerted to the presence of the Maybach by GM's OnStar, where an operator said somebody called to report the car had hit a deer.

"No deer was located," State Police say, adding:

At this point no charges have been filed against anyone, but the investigation into both reported incidents - including who was driving the Mercedes and what car struck the Murano - is ongoing. The investigation will seek to determine whether there is any connection between the reported incidents. No connection has yet been definitively established.

Didn't Adam's post and links clearly indicate an investigation is ongoing?!

I mean, huh?!

You mean the one below where he posted and linked that the Spikes got released? Poor guy gets his car stolen and wrecked and abandoned then gets released by Cheatriot Central Command. What a victim he is!

I wonder how intense of an INVESTIGATION Bellichick and/or Kraft made before they canned Spikes' stupid ass about 0.002 minutes after the story broke.

of an "investigation" than the NFL did before fining the Patriots and suspending Brady for the very serious crime of playing a children's game with an underinflated ball.

A few weeks vs. a few minutes. I've gotta agree with you there.

If you have money you can buy your way out of a DUI charge in this state. It's not hard -- you just hire lawyers with connections to the judges and "experts" to figure out some angle in which mechanical failure, medical problems, etc could have been responsible for the accident.

It will cost you a pretty penny but $40,000+ to be done with it is preferable to the actual consequences of a conviction.

His agent or Belichick?

I always leave my 200 thousand dollar car by the side of the road unattended.

More like $400,000.

Throw in a dead female and he could run for Senate here! Unlike Kennedy though, I'm told Spikes had a valid license.

Because every time you bring this up, I think of the "Exorcist" scene in Beetlejuice. You know:

He should have stayed with the Patriots theme of "The deflator let the air out of my tires"

Clearly, Goodel and the other 31 teams yet again conspiring against poor defenseless Kraft and Belichick. Somehow they got Spikes car damaged, abandoned, and in close proximity to a 3:30am hit and run.

Will they stop at nothing?

Not technically a real car.

"Mercedes Maybach" is just the make, but being two words it misleadingly looks like make/model. ("Mercedes Maybach" is like "Mercedes-Benz" and should probably be hyphenated too.)

Although made by Daimler, Maybach was not considered part of Mercedes until this year.

Sounds like Spikes' second stint with the Pats may be a short one.

Pats don't need any more trouble after Hernandez and deflategate.

Bad few days for Spikes - smashed up car and now no job.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence that he got released.
