Limbaugh not dead yet in Boston market

A few weeks after he was dropped by WRKO, another radio network might put Limbaugh on the low-rated, low-powered Spanish-language WKOX, 1430 AM, RadioInsight reports, adding that to get him on the station, its owner will probably just ditch the Spanish programming.

The Boston area has a lot more Spanish speakers than it does right-wing extremists.

Before it was a Spanish station, 1430 was a "Music of Your Life" oldies station, a syndicated format similar to today's WJIB.

What ever happened to the nifty fellow, a Ritz Hotel Boston Waiter who broadcast old tango 78 rpm records on WRCA-AM at 6pm?

A collector with a wide range of tango 78s !

Neither right nor left 'extremist' do particularly well here or elsewhere; but so-called conservative easily beats 'progressive' here and elsewhere.

Limbaugh has been around a long time. His shtick has gotten old, and he has considerable baggage. I've personally never understood the attraction of listening or watching anyone with a gross biased opinion on the right or left. I don't need to here the party line or narrative. People shilling are boring. I also wonder why the usual suspects on here are so overly familiar with him and other 'right' or 'conservative' (mostly in reality neocons), media shills. Why do you obsess over him if you don't like him and presumably don't listen? The vast majority of people don't listen to him or, for example, NPR.

You mean Nice Polite Republicans? Leftist extremists and shills definitely exist but you've got a pretty warped view of what NPR airs if you think they're an example of either.

Reproduction and immigration rates for Spanish speakers is far greater than growth rates for right wing extremists, even if including Islamic right-wing extremists! :-)

Well at least we have our priorities are straight.

At this point, disgruntled white guy drywall contractors and spray paint jobbers are probably the only ones left who still listen to idiot talk radio.

Blow-hard mouth piece that he is, I now plenty of people who listen to Rush who are not "right wing extremists". Dial back the hyperbole.

Now all they need to do is add Glenn Beck and Michele (One L on Facebook!) McPhee and they can have an all hypocritical substance abuser line up!

Well at least Howie Carr was able to get down on his hands and knees and beg Entercom to take him back at RKO. Sort of makes all those caustic remarks he made about RKO over the years seem like they never happened. I just believe Howie likes stealing from a station that can actually afford toilet paper, unlike WMEX which apparently can't afford a coffee machine, right, Michele?

WBZ-AM guys talk like shills. Where are the great monologists?... like Jean Shepherd

Would that WERS-FM Emerson College Boston radio 88.9 be training that quality of broadcasters!?

And they spin tales of self absorption hand wrings from hell.

Shepherd was about things beyond himself.

You seem to have a strange obsession with Howie Carr and Michele McPhee. That is all.

I have a distaste for hypocritical racists who use the airwaves to finance that same hypocrisy and I speak on it.

Don't you?

Personally, I can't stand Howie Carr or Michele McPhee. There is nothing worse than Howie's use of 1960's street slang in his articles and if I hear MM talk about jimmies on an ice cream cone, I'll probably jerk my car into a tree.

It just seems to me that you go a bit overboard here and when the Herald had its old comment section. To each his own, but I don't think either of them are worthy of more than a few seconds of thought.

I think you underestimate the influence of conservatism in the Massachusetts media and in state governance. A lot of people are educated on the issues by conservatives voices in the Herald and on radio. Conservative media lays the groundwork, and advocates on issues coming before the house and senate. Take a look at the legislature's record "reforming" food assistance, a program with a low fraud rate of about 1% which Mass "reformed" five out of the last seven years. Look at what the house passes. Compare it to the senate. The allegedly labor friendly house was prepared to cut unemployment benefits for all workers in the state as a bargaining chip to raise the minimum wage. Crazy.

Why don't you just change the channel? Are you some kind of masked crusader or something? Trying to cleanse the airwaves? I'm just kidding but you do seem overly obsessed.

For someone that so despises the comment sections, you seem to frequent them a bit and I would think a break from reading them would be good for you.

It makes sense for KOX to want one of the country's biggest dicks in its lineup.

Teh story may be true, but it's speculation based (as far as I can see) only on the registration of "talk1430.com" By Clear Cha--, I mean Eyeheart Media. Does it make sense? Only if it's more important for Eyeheart to have Limbaugh on in Boston than to make money with WKOX.

Remember, the same company had him on WXKS 1200 AM just a couple years ago, and that was a 50,000 watt station. It went nowhere in the ratings. Why would they now repeat the experiment on the much weaker WKOX? If the goal is merely to get Limbaugh's show on the air, why not put it on an HD2 channel, or lease time from a station like WNTN 1550 AM?

Last week there were rumors of a deal between Eyeheart and Salem Communications, which is buying WMKI 1260 AM from Disney, that would see Limbaugh's show move to 1260.

Limbaugh is done. This is just him running out his fat contract that is over next year. He'll either just sit in his mansion snorting OC's all day or he'll go to Sirius like Dr. Laura.

old angry white guys hasn't died off from cases of Limbaugh-inspired ruptured spleens. Must be tough to be a dinosaur with only one bloated, Oxy-addled baritone to look to who truly understands everything that's wrong with the world. You know: brown people, women who don't want to be treated like chattels, non-Christians, those pointy-headed East Coast "elites", Hollywood. Those tar pits are relentless.

I would listen to hear who the sponsors are and then intentionally not support them in the future or stop supporting them if I already had been.
