Alleged drug dealer charged with hitting three cops with her car in escape attempt

A Dorchester woman is behind bars this week after she allegedly knocked over three cops with her car after selling a guy some drugs in Roxbury, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Samara Figueroa, 26, had bail set at $10,000 at her arraignment in Roxbury District Court on Monday on three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and single counts of trafficking cocaine, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm, possessing a firearm in the commission of a felony, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. But she won't be going anywhere, the DA's office reports - she had her bail on an earlier larceny charge revoked.

The guy she allegedly sold drugs to, Juan Ortiz, 23, also had an earlier bail revoked, the DA's office says.

According to the DA's office, police spotted Ortiz, whom "they knew from prior interactions," leaning into a car parked at Walnut and Humboldt avenues shortly after 11:00 p.m. Saturday.

Based on their training and experience, officers believed they had observed Ortiz take part in a drug transaction inside the vehicle and approached him on foot.

Officers stopped Ortiz in the area of Bower Street. A plastic baggie that was sticking out of his pants pocket was found to contain oxycodone pills, prosecutors said. He also had $320 in cash.

Three additional officers then approached the vehicle Ortiz had been seen leaning into. After officers knocked on the window and announced that they were Boston Police, the vehicle’s driver, later identified as Figueroa, refused to lower the car’s window and then sped away. As she did so she struck all three officers in the arms and legs with the front and sides of the vehicle, prosecutors said.

Other officers found the car stuck in traffic on Sonoma Street:

Figueroa again refused to lower the window and drove the wrong way down Maple Street. She then abandoned the vehicle on Georgia Street and fled on foot. She was later located in the area of Egleston Square and placed under arrest.

The DA's office adds that inside the car, plice found a bag containing 36 individually wrapped plastic bags containing a total of 18 grams of crack. Officers also found a loaded Kel Tec 9mm Luger firearm apparently thrown out of the car during the failed escape attempt. And inside Figueroa's purse, they found a wallet with Ortiz's license, the DA's office adds.

Innocent, etc.

So an armed perpetrator strikes three cops with her car and NONE of them shoots at her. They could have made her into a drug totin' slab of Swiss Cheese and would have been exonerated.

Our cops have nerves, and balls, of steel.

More like she's lucky it was BPD and not the troopers. MSP would have put at least three clips into that car
