After 18 years to pursue other career opportunities.
The tone of Fox25 newscast changed over the last year or two. There used to be more banter ... not that I liked her and "Ock" constantly yucking it up, but lately it's been a little too dry.
As the article said, she was on top of the marathon coverage, and not just for the bombing. She followed the father who ran pushing with his son in a wheelchair for years, and also covered many other stories of people overcoming disease or other adversity in life. She seemed honestly enthusiastic about bringing these stories to viewers.
Hope she finds something rewarding in the next stage of her career.
My news anchor crush
Edit: also lol that the article refers to the 2004 world series win as the sox first. They should take boston out of their name
It says it was their "first World Series victory in 2004". That is, literally, true. They did not win a single World Series from January 1st through October 26th, thus the one on the 27th was their first in 2004.
but best of luck.
"Fox 25 said that I'm too old to be on TV now, but they have the one iota of class to let me announce this on my terms."
Don Henley is the best ever.
Actually there had been discussions about her leaving for quite some time. I believe she gave her notice months ago but they all entered into an agreement not to release the info untill tonight. Most staff are not happy with Cox's attempt to tighten things up. Tons of behind the scenes staff have left as well.
I'm sure Maria's in good shape from running all over that Fox 25 news set, which looks about the size of my apartment building. Let me guess, she's going to do some sort of lifestyle programming, a la Bianca Della Garza, or along the lines of the inimitable Style Boston. She'll end up on NESN!!
