This was a Montessori school for ages. Any idea why they closed? Did the landlord kick them out with nowhere else to go?

The building that burned was not Copper Beach Montessori. That's next door. That said, Copper Beach is going to close. The story I heard (from two parents with kids there) is that the owner wanted to retire and so she sold the building to Community Servings (which operates out of the adjacent building).

Hard to figure out from Google Maps.

Neither. It's an abandoned building that is adjacent to Community Servings and, as far as I am aware, was also recently purchased by them (as well as the pre-school in the same lot) with the intention of expanding the size of their operation. The building was already in pretty bad shape so I suspect the intention was to tear it down anyway. Now maybe they'll stop "waiting for the right moment" or whatever.

The property was acquired by Community Servings two years ago to support long term needs. The building is unoccupied at this time (and has been for almost 20 years) and we anticipate demolishing it later this year, upon receipt of appropriate approvals from the city. We do not know the cause of the fire at this time and will work closely with the Fire Department in their investigation into the cause.

It is important to note that this fire had no impact on Community Servings current facility or our ongoing operations.
