WBZ interviews the woman who drove her sick infant son 4 1/2 hours to Boston rather than going to a local hospital, sparking an Amber Alert that ended in her arrest - for outstanding warrants.

The kid was probably seen sooner at Childrens than he would have been at her local hospital.

Not if they don't have the kid's records
And her going there would still have resulted in the situation where she was charged with neglecting the kid's welfare when she was probably protecting his welfare.

I'm still wondering why she didn't go to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, which is an equally outstanding hospital and a hell of a lot closer.
I'm not
She knows Children's and knew how to get there. What mother is going to drive around in circles in a strange city looking for a hospital she's never been to when she knows a place they can take the right care of her child? From Wilkes-Barre, Philadelphia was a hundred miles in the wrong direction (away from family).
I don't blame her

Hooking him up to an IV wouldn't have fixed that problem. It's not outrageous to suggest he might have gotten appropriate treatment faster because of his mother's choice.
I'd be interested to hear what the nurse who decided it was her right to make the mother's life hell based on her misdiagnosis has to say about that.

This is SOP behavior for children's service agencies when they make a poor judgement: double down.
I'm betting that the kid had been to Children's Hospital before, and they knew what the background was (that this nurse apparently wouldn't listen to).

She wasn't at the right place, and knew it. Beyond that, she saw it right in front of her. Her child was in poor health and not getting the assessment, never mind the care needed. She did the right thing. It is unfortunate that if her race was different people wouldn't be judging so quickly. I align in being a mother, I've done this. Took my child out of where care just didn't seem to be happening to get the child as well as possible, as quickly as possible.
It sounds
more like she might need parenting classes than to have her child taken away.
The kid probably did need to be stabilized at a local hospital prior to being driven to Children's, but obviously, it sounds more like an unwise decision of someone panicking than an inherently neglectful one.
