How do you get into a school like NEU, where 2/3 of applicants are turned away, when you're so stupid you think you can shove a bag of cereal into an oven?
A bag.
Of cereal.
In an oven.

God help us all..

Many people are great academics, while remaining impressively deficient in everyday tasks. It doesn't stop at college, either.

I've had tenants who went to Harvard and MIT who had no clue about the most mundane things.

Nobody had the intention of cooking the corn puffs. One housemate put the cereal in the oven to keep the others from eating it, or because they ran out of cabinet space, and another one turned on the oven to reheat leftover pizza without knowing the oven was occupied.

I bet you're right. This very scenario happened in my family back when I was a wee shaver.

That happened to an old friend of mine in university, except it was during passover when they were storing non-Kosher plates, dishes, plastic items, etc., in the oven. They are intelligent people, but this kind of thing can happen when living communally.

I will always check the oven before turning it on.

Having lived with 12 student roommates in a one bedroom apartment, as is customary in Boston, I always check the oven to make sure no one is sleeping in it.

An acquaintance of mine once hid a GUN in his oven. You can guess the rest. Luckily, nobody was hurt when it popped off.
