Taken from the windows inside TJMaxx at the top of the escalator.

That structure is new. I work out upstairs at BSC and usually use a machine near the window, and that wasn't there Tuesday so it's new.

Complete date is Summer 2016.

When it's finished it'll look like this:

I had not yet seen this design. Kinda hard to believe that only a few blocks over from that stupid monstrosity which is the new Government Center station they are building an entranceway which seems somewhat artfully designed with at least an element of usability and uniqueness.

Why couldn't the same designer work on both?

two entirely separate projects.

The Shoppers Park (as pictured here) isn't even the MBTA doing or paying for this. It's the folks who are building the high rise who are.

So probably no way for them to work together.

I honestly can't wait to see how people use it.. seems like a large staircase. Honestly the pictures don't make it look too safe (no rails).. so all it will take is one idiot to fall off before it will close for good (and no one can stand on it it)

Sad to say but I think its going to just turn into another place for the homeless to congregate (like they do at the potato famine monument a few hundred feet away)

If you look closely at the enlarged photo, you can make them out.

oh yeah. You are correct.. Very thin glass.

Still looks like a fall hazard.

But we still see.

Well the lady sitting next to the guy tieing his shoe seems to already be having a problem with the glass.... her head and shoulders have disappeared!

This image is full of wonders. It looks like The Sims. Look for the two businessmen in coordinated dark suits and green shirts, either air typing or air playing a piano duet; and the two women getting into a tussle near the stroller.

Behind the station, next to the drive up.

Oh, and some of these elements are actual and real - for instance, I'm pretty sure that is my bike on the right side of the street. I also see one of my coworkers walking down the middle where the people look less sim-ish.

Photographers went around taking real pics of people (without us knowing) and ended up Photoshopping them in there. I was looking at a giant version of it on the wall next to Roche Bros when I spotted myself.

VERY weird.

"Still looks like a fall hazard."

No matter how idiot-proof something is, they will always build a better idiot.

Compared to the old bunker its great.

I like the fact that it will allow light into the platforms below.

is that both the first and the second ugliest and most pointless structures built in Boston in my lifetime share the same plaza. One stop shopping for all your hideous building needs. You can actually see one through the other!

I saw the skeletal structure and was thinking about how great it would be if it were the basis of a giant funnelator - or maybe a trebuchet. Think of the corporate employee team building possibilities!

I am actually in that rendering. Can you find me?

Dark-haired guy in the dark jacket and light shirt on the right hand side, near the "honest tea" ad (and the two bikes, the one with the tan seat likely being my bike).

I'm guessing based on what a "typical" age working person would be and the assumption that you are male.

Im sure the complainer who lives on the 23rd floor of the Devonshire will love it.

My first thought upon seeing the photo was that there should be a stage on the bottom of the "steps."

You just can't see it in this rendering.

The homeless population evicted out of Downtown Crossing will be able to seek refuge on the new roof of the station

Generally homeless people seeking refuge are looking to get OUT of the elements.

Camping out on a roof doesn't accomplish that in any way, shape or form.

are the homeless being evicted. They are clearly everywhere in DTX. Not mention the 4 shelters bordering the area that aren't going anywhere.
