Deja vu all over again: We could get 4-7 inches tomorrow

Forest Hills Cemetery in the snow

Forest Hills Cemetery Saturday morning. Photo by Susan Stange. See it larger.

UPDATE: Make that a winter-storm warning and up to a foot.

The NWS says a winter-storm watch goes into effect at 7 a.m. on Monday and advises:

ANYONE TRAVELING IN THE NEXT 24 TO 36 HOURS SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO MODIFY TRAVEL PLANS.

WCVB adds:

The storm system set to arrive Monday is going to pack a huge punch, with areas around Boston and Cape Cod expected to get the most snow.

And don't forget, kids: More snow could fall on Wednesday and Friday.

A "huge punch"? 4-7 inches? Sure, enough to slow things down a bit and perhaps cancel some schools, but easy there WCVB.

Given that tomorrow's high is supposed to be around 32, this could be like Friday - heavy wet snow that brings down tree branches and power lines. In which case it could cause lots of power outages, blocked roads, and damages (remember that we had a few deaths connected to Friday's snow).

the forecast has gotten steadily worse throughout the day. High winds will also be a factor....

Does this mean no Super Bowl parade on Tuesday?

Uh oh, did I just jinx it?

WOO! Extra, extra long weekend - Friday and Monday! Oh ... wait. I have to work. From home. Which I hate.

Exact same for me. Wanna just go into work

I've been making a point to avoid working from home for that very reason. I totally could if I wanted to, but I'd rather trudge my way into work than set a precedent that could impact the remainder of my career. Or, delay it for as long as possible. Leave work at work.

Now that I have the opportunity to work from home, it's better for me to do that (and shovel later) than endure a 3+ hour, delayed commute on the T.

How soon until we hear of the school cancellations?

How about right now?

Hysteria. Right. All fun and games until hundreds of kids get trapped by a storm - on your broken down train or at school with no buses.

At least, at school, the trapped teachers can bust locks on food storage and feed them. I take that you are ready to volunteer in such a situation?
