Beats standing in line across from 1010 Mass Ave on a Saturday morning just to get a week's worth of processed canned food and mechanically separated ground turkey from Ohio! Some of us aren't poor enough to qualify for SNAP or other food assistance to buy local and organic every week yet work for a paycheck that barely pays rent and properly takes care of the kids. Without being obese. So bring on the free Chick-filet!!

There are other alternatives, you just have to be willing to cook. If you want convenience food, food that you don't have to cook or prepare, then you have to pay fairly high to get healthy food. If you don't have the money, scratch cooking is much healthier than Chick-fil-a.

its only 52 meals- they're allowing one per week. so if you eat chic-fil-a once per week for a year and are obese, you were already obese.

but i understand that theres no reason to allow facts to get in the way of a sick burn

One meal per week is hardly "a year's worth" in the common meaning of the phrase even if it's literally true.

If that's a value of $520 ($10/meal) and you needed to wait on line for 24 hours you effectively were paid a rate of $22/hr which is what someone who makes $45k/year makes. Not bad but hardly a jackpot.

The software engineer quoted would have been better off had he spent his vacation day doing some freelance programming which generally pays much better.

a lot of these people are doing this as some sort of grand scheme to make a ton of money. they probably think its fun. read some about it, theres teens there that brought some footballs, cards, etc.

sometimes people just want to have fun and do something. which is why they're doing this promotion. its to drum up interest and awareness. unless you really thought that the chick filet was interested in giving out 36,500 free meals.

Did you expect anything less than self-righteous, congratulatory stroking?

and i'm a firm proponent of it, which is why i immediately jumped at the opportunity to counter his attempted sick burn with a way better one

A reason to go to Shoppers World!

Cost Plus is a reason to go to Shoppers World. Having lived in Chicago for several years I missed that store when I moved back to the Boston. Chick-fil-A... eh, whatever. They have a half-assed promotion that a bunch of stoners wait in line for overnight and then act like they're the In-N-Out Burger of east coast fastfood chicken restaurants. Hey, if that get you all excited then by all means have at it.

....not the silly promotion. I don't stand in line for nuthin'. hence the beauty of the Chick Fil A iPhone App.

Now that the same-sex marriage issue has been mooted I don't have to feel so bad about eating their goddamned delicious chicken sandwiches.

SSM is the law of the land, so that fight is over. There's nothing for the Cathy family to donate to.

There are no awful causes left for those people to support? You honestly believe that was the only virulent stance of the fundamentalist owners?

For what it's worth, I still believe George Wallace was a shitty person even after the desegregation fight was over.

For what it's worth, I still believe George Wallace was a shitty person even after the desegregation fight was over.

And certainly you believe the same about former Sen Majority Leader (and KKK official) Robert Byrd. He was a shitty person after officially leaving the Klan...while serving as what, the #2 person in the Democrat party?

But what on earth does that have to do with anything at hand?

Byrd many many times apologized in the last couple decades of his life - heartfeltly and emotionally - for the stupid things he thought and said when he was younger.

I work for a homeless shelter - where our street advocate sees chronically ill people each day who sleep in tent cities for shelter four seasons. He tries his very best to coax these individuals to the shelter for warmth. Maybe a chicken sandwich would do the trick?? Do you think Chick-Fill-A would donate free food to our shelter?? Doubtful...they pulled this marketing gimmick to draw in fat middle class fried chicken addicts and hook them on their artery clogging junk. That free sandwich will result in a sale of large fries, jumbo coke and apple pie to top it off. Total calorie intake? Fatal...

if so, maybe! why don't you give them a call?

If your shelter is in Boston, well...that'd be a long haul to deliver food from Framingham.

Too bad that the intolerance by city officials of others' beliefs has prevented a Chick Fil-A from opening up in Boston. Because if they weren't run out of town, CFA could have easily sent donations (of fantastic chicken sandwiches) to Boston shelters.

You could get a much healthier meal at the former, and you better believe that they are up front with their calorie counts.

Are you in Framingham? You might want to see if Chick Fil-A might want to help the shelter out. They are a very religious organization, so they take Jesus' message seriously. Are you in Boston? Visit Tom Menino's grave and ask him why he didn't want them in Boston.
