Prayers
My prayers go out to this baby and all others that are involved.
prayers dont prevent murder
Every time there is a mass shooting or a driver kills someone, people say "prayers with the family". Thats neat, but we need to do more than pray after killings to have different outcomes.
I'd like to know more before saying that
I'm not the praying type, and I certainly think that drivers need to be more accountable for their driving. However, we don't know what happened here just yet or what caused the crash.
Good vibes toward mother and baby are all we got at this point.
Drivers are responsible for
Drivers are responsible for driving so they don't hit people regardless. Playing with their phones, eating/drinking, adjusting the station, listening to music/talk radio, are all things distract from the main activity that drivers increasing think is secondary- not just pushing the pedal and steering according to the road, but LOOKING where they are going at all times and who/what else is out there. Prayers aren't going to prevent another baby from being killed, but enforcing driving laws and holding people accountable for what they do with their cars may make them think twice about speeding and doing other things other than driving when they are in the drivers seat. I know, we are in America, you get to have a gun and a car and you aren't responsible for what you do with them unless it can be proved you meant to. So the deaths will keep piling up.
Keeping you in my prayers
Hoping she and baby are getting better and that they're being well taken care of in this time of need.
Please slow down
Too many people are driving around careless. Slow down, save a life. PLEASE
Agreed but we don't know if
Agreed but we don't know if the mother wandered out into the street. The driver did stay on the scene.
Wandered out onto the crosswalk?
The intersection of Humbolt Ave at Humbolt Court has a crosswalk.
Even if a person "wanders out into the street," the driver is responsible to be aware of and not hit what is in from of him, especially in a residential neighborhood where one should be traveling at less than 30 mph.
They were hit crossing
They were hit crossing Humboldt Ave. where there is no crosswalk. The crosswalk goes across Humboldt Ct., which is just a parking lot.
Only appropriate thing to say is...
That I hope the baby will be ok...
Woman and baby in auto or on foot?
Writeup unclear. Was the woman and baby in an automobile or were they pedestrians? I'm guessing auto based on the lack of more explicit details, but confirmation would be nice.
On foot
Sorry for being unclear. They were pedestrians.
Neighbor rushed out to perform CPR on infant
WBZ reports.
Good for the neighbors
Do you know how to do infant and child CPR? If this happened in front of you, would you want to be able to help?
no and no
no and no
OK then
You wouldn't want to be able to help? OK then.
Any updates?
Any further word on the condition of the woman and the baby, Adam? This happened literally around the corner from where my daughter is in daycare, and I just... ugh.
The infant has died...
Update from the Globe. Reporting that the infant has died. This is horrible. http://www.bostonglobe.com/news/nation/2016/02/19/hit/wmpcYL9ngT5y5VqVQ9...
Witnesses are reporting that
Witnesses are reporting that the car was obviously speeding and the victims were flung 40 feet by the car. Sickening. Another Boston driver who should be thrown in jail for a long while and have their license permanently taken away.
Well
Well, it's now a homicide, so you may get your wish. And before you start...just don't.
I didn't see any news reports
I didn't see any news reports identifying the driver as a Boston resident. What's your source?
I drove by the scene, long
I drove by the scene, long tire marks that end with a blood stain next to the yellow lines... Sad very sad. And to learn the baby had passed.
