DA: Man was trying to sell drugs to passengers on a T bus after the parade when his loaded gun fell out of his pants

A North Attleboro man was ordered held on $25,000 bail yesterday on gun charges affter an incident on an MBTA shuttle bus after the St. Patrick's Day parade, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

According to the DA's office, Nichola Cossette, 25, was on board a shuttle bus heading to South Station around 3:30 p.m. and asking fellow passengers if they needed any drugs, in the area of Summer and E. 1 streets:

As Cossette and others onboard attempted to move away from a visibly ill passenger, witnesses observed a firearm fall out of the waist of Cossette’s pants, prosecutors said. After the shuttle arrived at South Station, the witnesses approached Transit Police officers who were responding an unrelated report of a fight on the Red Line platform in the area where Cossette was last seen.

Based on the description provided by witnesses, officers stopped Cossette on the platform and located a firearm in his pants pocket, prosecutors said. The gun was found to be loaded with one round in the chamber and three in the magazine.

Cossette was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and carrying a loaded firearm at his arraignment in Suffolk County Gun Court. The DA's office reports that Cossette did not actually have any drugs on him when arrested.

DA Dan Conley praised the other passengers on the bus for saying something when they saw something.

Innocent, etc.

The chambered gun part isn't funny, and he's obviously capable of violence, but still an amusing story.

First, I would like to congratulate the hero or Hero's who saw something and said something, this idiot could have accidentally killed anyone and everyone in the vicinity of where that gun dropped.
So if any of you where around when that gun dropped you should be counting your blessings that you're not dead at this time.
I'm glad he is in custody. Great job MBTA Officers, I'm you are and everyone else is safe because of your police work.
