Hotel proposed for Harrison Avenue in Chinatown

Sampan reports developers recently showed residents plans for a hotel at 15 Harrison Ave. at Beach Street with 126 rooms and 6 suites. The hotel would not have a kitchen or restaurant, as a way of encouraging guests to explore the neighborhood.

At the other end of Chinatown, a different set of developers have BRA approval for a hotel with tiny rooms at Tremont and Stuart streets.

This is currently the site of the 5-story building that was condemned several years ago, no?

https://www.google.com/maps/place/25+Harrison+Ave,+Boston,+MA+02111/@42.352,-71.0634431,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x89e37a781b8bf2bd:0xf99ba8781eb2db36

The owners of the building at that time sold the property in 2014 for $4,920,000, according to the Suffolk Deeds website. (Great website, could be better, btw!)

... with brick at street level? If so, I went to a party in a (probably illegal) studio space there 20 years ago that was memorable because the floor was bouncing when we danced. Palpably bouncing. Like it might give out.

But it was fun!

Yes, it's a white building w/ brick face first level.

PS. The Sampan article seems to have disappeared.

Maybe it was an April Fool's joke?

Boston needs more:

Hotels
Bank branches
cell phone stores
Over-priced 'Wine and Spirits' (AKA Liquor stores)
Dunkin Donuts
Stahbucks
Public housing projects
And perhaps the most egregious of all:

CVS / Walgreens

....Oh, and college students.

Actually Boston desperately needs more hotel rooms. When you have people staying in Framingham and Wareham for a convention at the BCEC, that's a problem.

While we're at it, let's get rid of those damn college students. You know the ones who have helped bring Boston out of the dark ages. Or maybe you'd be happy with the depopulated, much crappier Boston of the 70s.

And how are drug stores the worst? Sorry, but I generally don't want to have to traverse half a city to get a prescription filled.

Move to the boonies if you hate it so much.

Are hideous. I'm very pro-development, but this cannot not get built without a full redesign. That design is atrocious and almost offensive. Just an old white man trying to design a building with Asian influences.

Of course the architect happens to head the Inspectional Services Dpt. and is a neighbor and friend of the mayor so this will probably get built.
