Did they press the accelerator instead of the brake when they realized they were headed for the tracks?

That is some world-class fucking up!

People talk about Winter causing delays on the T but the snow storms are nothing compared to Boston drivers when it comes to amount of delays caused.

Lets put 8 lanes of car traffic on Commonwealth Ave. What could go wrong!

source?

I presume, since no driver was mentioned.

I've had it with this driverless-car crap. Yes, there was probably a driver behind the wheel. But unless you were there, which I doubt, we don't know if the driver was at fault or if his or her car was pushed into the tracks by another car. Yes, driven by a person. Which the average reader can frickin' figure out.

Impose a toll on bad anons! That should improve UHub revenue substantially!

and bad typist ChrisInEastie is bad. Though I'm blaming this one on autocorrect, so I guess bad proofreader ChrisInEastie is bad.

So, we will continue to massively neglect transit because self-driving cars will save us all!

It will be very easy to cycle around Boston in twenty years, because everyone will have a self-driving car and everyone will have to use it and the roads will be solidly jammed with vehicles 24/7 because there is no room for everyone to commute by car!

Suckers.

I hate driving so much that I do it maybe twice a year (yes, I'm one of those Zipcar people you all cringe about), but I at least know not to do that.

Clearly that black fence should have been wearing an orange vest.

I don't see any approved signs warning that driving across the tracks and into the fence are a bad idea.

The curb and ballast aren't enough for poor harried drivers if they aren't federally approved!

The city should, in fact, take care to make sure road markings and raised curbs are properly painted and in good repair.

But where were the signs saying "DO NOT DRIVE OVER CURB, ACROSS TRACKS, AND INTO THE FENCE"??

I mean, how's a driver supposed to figure that out without an official federal-spec sign?
