Man runs into traffic, gets hit, goes flying, walks away

Car Accident Pedestrian Runs into Traffic Gets Launched and Walks Away

Tom captured the incident on Morton Street just past Blue Hill Avenue on his car dashcam late Thursday afternoon.

WBZ reports police are aware of the incident but that nobody came into B-3, which is right across the street, to report anything. If you go to the video and set it to the slowest possible speed, it sure looks like running guy was running because he'd just taken something that didn't belong to him.

I'm thinking you are correct since most people would collect their belongings at least before walking away.

Because he probably left his stuff in the road because he was hit on the head. I am uncomfortable assuming he was a thief just because he was running.

Click on the gear thingee on the lower right. Click on Speed and set it to 0.25. Then restart the video from the beginning.

Formerly known as the Flash blocker, ClickToFlash, the Safari extension ClickToPlugin allows you to download videos from YouTube to your computer. You can then use the QuickTime player to watch the videos offline, at any speed you desire, and even watch them frame-by-frame.

After you install ClickToPlugn, turn on the option to enable "Download Video" in the shortcut menu:

The extension will prevent embedded Flash from automatically loading on all web pages. If you choose to watch the video, just click on it and it'll load as usual. Or, you can right-click on the video and choose the option to download it:

After downloading the video, open it with the QuickTime player. You can quickly scroll through, watch it at various speeds, or pause it and use the arrow keys to watch it frame-by-frame:

( Alas, the developer says they won't be releasing any new versions of ClickToPlugin, so it's uncertain what will happen in the future. )

!I was afraid this free, open-source extension wouldn't be supported in the newest version of macOS and Safari, but I'm happy to report it still works perfectly!

If you're a Mac user who would enjoy being able to download videos from YouTube, or would just like to block annoying Flash, ClickToPlugin has the "Elmer-Tested" seal of approval.

Nowadays, the sissification of most men has lead to situations where, after a guy gets hit by a car, he gets all like "ow, I've been hit by a car! Get an ambulance." More like a wambulance, if you ask me.

This guy, on the other hand, reminds us of how men used to react to getting hit by a car. Check your bearings, get up, and continue in the direction opposite the one you were going. I bet later on, when an acquaintance asks what happened that day, he'll say "not much. Got hit by a car, but that's about all. Oh, and I saw the trailer for the new Ice Age movie. Man, that shit looks funny."

Thanks, man, for keeping it real.

Real Men of Genius could cover this. "Mister gets-hit-by-a-car-like-a-real-man".

I wonder if the stunt teams that work with the local movie industry have an APB on the guy now, too.

Am I supposed to leave comments on reddit, or on u-hub? I'm so confused!!

Yeah, maybe he did take something that didn't belong to him, but I'm really impressed by the way he just shook it off and walked away. I'm sure there are scrapes and bruises to deal with, but he walked away.

Not a common conclusion when getting hit by a car...

Adrenaline was pumping and if he was a thief he had strong motives to leave scene w/o police involvement.
Could be on drugs or drunk too.

Could have much more severe injuries not readily apparent.

He did look pretty disoriented.

so funny....What an idiot! Where is that Boston Cop that got into trouble with that white guy a few weeks back trying to arrest him for banging on his window? He could have stopped this guy from JayRunning!

It does look like the jay runner had a run-in with a guy in dark clothes by the traffic signal control box. Maybe the same guy who approaches him after he is picking himself up off the street.

BTW, you can slow the video down by clicking the little gear icon at the bottom of the YouTube, that sometimes also shows a red "HD" block on it. It will let you choose playback speed.

What's the proper protocol if you're the driver in this situation - You hit a pedestrian, but pedestrian walks away? Are you supposed to call the cops on yourself? Just drive away?

Technically the pedestrian hit the car, not the other way around.

He will at least need to file a police report describing the incident, and explaining the damage to the front end of the vehicle.

Maybe a combo of his height, his speed and the side mirror flipping him up on the hood, but still looks that could have been a head injury and some serious abrasions

And that block are always kind of a shitshow, especially during the summer and at night. Lots of crazy pedestrians and some really bad driving.

All along Morton Street and Blue Hill Ave. I crawl thru those areas and still have to react defensively to pedestrians and drivers showing no regard for rules of the road.

Wild wild west.

this guy was actually looking at traffic and trying to negotiate it. Usually pedestrians won't even look as they cross against the light or pop out away from intersections. Completely assume you'll see them and stop.

I called a guy out for doing it with his toddler once and had a very violent response.

Huh? You're basing that on what, now?

Look what happens on the left side of the screen, left of the bus: Guy appears to take something from second guy, runs right into traffic - then gets hit when he turns around as if he's looking to see if he's being followed.

So when a jay-walker runs into your car and runs off, who pays for the damage/dent removal?

up

At least the premium. Same as a hit and run.
Unless you can ID the guy/ driver.

BTW get uninsured motorist coverage. I got sideswiped while parked and got no compensation.

But another time I was hit and run but got plate. My insurance determined car at fault had no insurance but my damages were covered.

It's short money and well worth it IMO
