State joins in on lawsuits against Volkswagen over diesel cheating

Associated Press reports Attorney General Maura Healey and her counterpart in New York will sue VW over the way its diesel cars were designed to fake out emissions tests. A number of Massachusetts VW owners sued the car maker last fall over the issue.

Isn't it exactly, squarely within the AG's job to sue a manufacturer who deceptively sells a fraudulently-designed product to Massachusetts consumers?

.Gov already assessed a penalty. This case is pursuing damages already paid in a form of double jeopardy. If the state wants cash it has to come out of the fine already paid to the feds.

It's pretty clear that VW is going to have to pony up some big dough to buy their way out of this mess. If Healey WASN'T busy getting in line for that money I would think she wasn't doing her job.
