Coast Guard rescues six after boat sinks in Dorchester Bay

The Coast Guard reports plucking six people out of Dorchester Bay after their boat sank early this morning off Castle Island.

The Coast Guard rushed to the scene after one of the six managed to call 911.

The crew recovered all six people at around 1:53 a.m and transported them to a pier in the reserved channel at 2:05 a.m. for medical evaluation by Boston Fire Department emergency medical services.

There were no injuries, the Coast Guard reports, adding the cause of the foundering remains under investigation.

I'd be curious to learn what caused the sinking, size and type of vessel, alcohol at 1:30 am etc. The rocks off Castle Island, sometimes only visible at low tide, are very unforgiving to those who try to take a shortcut outside the channel. Guaranteed a few times each summer to hear the distress call from there. Glad all are safe, Semper Paratus USCG.

Seems like a real professional crew there.... I'm sure this was a freak accident no one could have foreseen.

Lasted hours and knocked out power. If they got hit by that then they're damn lucky to get promptly rescued.
