Looks like Dan Cullinane won't be voting for Doug Bennett

For the second time this month, would-be Register of Deeds Doug Bennett has pissed off an elected official, this time state Rep. Dan Cullinane (D-Dorchester).

Cullinane posted photos yesterday that appear to show the perennial candidate tearing down a Cullinane sign and then standing on it as he puts up one of his large hand-made signs on a Gallivan Boulevard resident's fence.

Cullinane said the resident gave Bennett the OK to put up one of his signs - but not at the expense of Cullinane's:

I have made multiple attempts to reach out to Mr. Bennett today to kindly ask that he simply return the sign to where it was removed - not because we don't have more, we do, - not because they are expensive, which they are, - but because it is the just the right thing to do. I gave him the day to respond and to do the right thing and I gladly would have let it go. He chose not to respond.

Too late now. Keep the sign. We've moved on to now work even harder to make sure we win re-election! And of course thanks to my mom and dad for putting the signs back this afternoon!

Earlier this month, Chelsea City Councilor Matt Frank and Bennett exchanged pleasantries over Bennett signs in Chelsea - which Frank said were popping up on signs whose owners hadn't agreed to them. Bennett responded by threatening to run a Hispanic candidate against Frank.

for some time on UHub. Until I saw the photos in the Facebook link just now, I thought people were exaggerating about how poorly made they are. Reminds me of something that Jethro from The Beverly Hillbillies would print up.

And removing campaign signs to replace them with your own is easily the lowest thing a candidate can do. Especially when the signs you are removing are for candidates running in other races. Perhaps Mr. Bennett got his campaign training from watching the Rocko's Modern Life episode Ed Good Rocko Bad once too often.

Obligatory WTF question: Why is Registar of Deeds even an elected position in the first place?

Did these candidates endorse in the deeds race?

He nails his signs to living trees. Nails kill trees. As if that isn't bad enough, he's nailing his signs on 100+ year old historic trees along the Commonwealth Mall just to support his selfish campaign.

Screw that guy. He should be confined to his house for that.

As for the "Why elect a Reg. of Deeds", it seems to be a hold over from colonial times when most governmental positions were elected.

on them. Especially on public street trees.

It mentions that nails in trees are dangerous for anyone who ever trims or cuts down a tree. When a chainsaw hits the nail, it can destroy the chainsaw and the person with the chainsaw.
Doug doesn't care.

From the linked article:

Fortunately, trees are durable plants, Hammering a nail into a tree does create a wound, but if the tree is healthy, no serious harm will be done. S

So a single nail isn't going to kill the tree, but it does damage the tree and implied in that is that many nails will cause harm. (Human analogy: One splinter isn't going to kill you but hundreds of splinters are going to cause great pain and possible infections.)

Seeing as how Doug keeps running (and losing) his multiple signs are most definitely hurting the trees.

No Steve Murphy?

Shocker. He doesn't even want to work at getting elected. What a total POS.

Maura Hennigan is the Suffolk county cleark (no court or law experience). Murphy who pushed a city council raise is running for a similar position within the court system. (All state pentions that won't effect their Boston pention).

We need a ballot question that limits elected officials from double dipping (retiring from a municipality and jumping to a state job).

Although, two of the most accomplished professors I've ever had both were playing the game in their 50's!

The photos I see only show Doug putting up a sign. Who knows who took down Cullinane's sign? Does he have someone he is running against? That's a more likely answer.

The idea that Cullinane tried to reach out to Doug and was unable to makes no sense. He's very reachable. That if anything raises a huge red flag.

None of us has any idea that "anon" is you.

Dougie is famous for upvoting his own comments. It's good to have you back Doug. er, anon, er, .....

"Mom and Dad", "Mom and Dad", "Mom and Dad".... Is Mom baking cookies for your classmates and Dad hammering together a soap box for you to stand on, Dan? How old are you?

Guy's parents still care about him and help out on his campaign? That's a bad thing? Maybe if you hate your parents, I guess.

His writing just sounds a little bit immature to me. Nice prejudge about my relationship with my parents though. Looks like Baby Huey running for Hall Monitor.

Thanks for IDing Bennett though. Hard to believe with all the terrible politicians in office, that there is one that absolutely has to be kept out of office.

up

But I strongly feel that you — I mean, DB — ought to be kept out of office and ideally kept away from trees, front doors, telephone poles, private property, and a whole lot more.

APB. Take a reading refresher course, re-read what I wrote above and tell me how that differs from your position. Then explain to me why "doug' as you call me, would post something that says he should be kept out of office. You seem a bit over the top paranoid.

up

You slay me with your brilliance. You never said that, but then so many politicians feel they don't need to adhere to the same standards of clarity and honesty as the rest of us.

If I were even a little paranoid, I'd actually be worrying that you'll be elected, but I'm doing just fine.

Isn't Dan Cullinane the State Rep from DORCHESTER who refused to support the police who protect us by publicly refusing to put a blue light on his porch? Hey first responders from DORCHESTER, remember Courageous Dan at election time.

Please educate us on the alleged blue light controversy. Enquiring minds want to know. We know you're reading this. So far you've posted twice as anon, and once as Arthur. You're hilarious.

His pugnacious style for sure.

Back when the blacklivesmatter matter was ramping up, I think during the Ferguson situation, the police were taking an undeserved beating. There was a movement to show support for police where people would simply put a blue light on the front porch or in a window, signifying that police lives matter too. Dan Cullinane publicly refused to do so at his house, despite being asked by several constituents, saying he didn't want to take sides. I hope that is enough of an explanation for you. It was a while ago, so many details escape me, but that was the idea of the Courageous Dan Cullinane situation I wrote about.

the police were taking an undeserved beating.

Nice word choice.

Do you have any documentation at all about your made up blue light story Doug Arthur?
I didn't think so.

up
Voting closed 0

Kind of like all these people claiming the police brutalize them. Do they have documentation? It happened with Cullinane. If you choose not to believe me, it's up to you.

I so choose.

I remember it well, from all those police academy movies... you're chasing an armed criminal through blackest night, your strength beginning to wane, when lo! On the horizon appears a porch light in blue. THIS house... THIS house supports the police. Oh, I don't know if they donate time or money to the department or anything, and hell, for all you know there could be bear traps in the front lawn, but somehow... SOMEHOW... you dig a little deeper into yourself and

christ i can't even finish typing this ridiculous ad absurdum. do you even read the words you defecate onto the internet, doug, or are you actually the subliterate mouth-breather your campaign signs suggest you are?

All the corrupt and incompetent politicians in Boston, and we're wasting time talking about this amusing idiot.

up
Voting closed 0

He's not one of these slick prepackaged politicians. His signs tell it like it is!

up
Voting closed 0

Yes indeed. His signs clearly indicate what kind of a man DB is. Apparent 3rd grade education level, messy, sloppy, doesn't care about the voters, the neighbors, and the citizens of Boston. His signs are all you need to know about Doug the Bug.

up
Voting closed 0

Just keep in mind folks.. Doug is getting us to do one thing.

REMEMBER WHO HE IS.

We all remember his signs. We all remember how much of a idiot he is... He may never win any election but we sure all know who he is.

up
Voting closed 0

I'm not so sure it is in this case.

up
Voting closed 0

Its not a good thing. but anyone in marketing will call this 'branding'. His "brand" is his hand made signs and crassness.

Remember the old saying "Any publicity is good publicity, even if its bad publicity". I think that applies here. Like I said, we may not like him, but we certainly know and remember who he is.

up
Voting closed 0

I'm voting for Doug, not because I like him or even know anything about his positions. I'm pretty well convinced he's a psycho. The reason I'm voting for him is to show just how bad the current political regime actually is by electing this maniac. It's a protest vote. He might be a mental case, but he's not yet corrupt like the rest of them are now.

up
Voting closed 0

remind me of "Vote for me, what have you got to lose?"

up

It's all fun and games until Register Bennett screws up all the real estate filings and no one owns their own home anymore.

up

here are the positions which Arthur has espoused in this thread.

  • Against parents
  • Pro-Baby Huey
  • Anti-hall monitor
  • Spells DORCHESTER in all caps
  • Measures support for police on single axis, the Blue Light Test
  • Believes police took an "undeserved beating" during Ferguson protests
  • Believes all elected officials are corrupt beyond redemption
  • Believes electing avowed madman would improve this situation

You should register an account here so we can hear more of your fascinating beliefs, Arthur. You and FISH can be co-head-cheerleaders for Cheeto Hitler.

Ted Kennedy was a constant champion of diversity, yet I never heard him consider giving up his senate seat to Jack E. Robinson, a black man. I voted for Mr. Robinson.

So you were the person who voted for Jack "Screech, bang, whoops, I just got into an accident" E. Robinson.

Many people, like Charles Manson, for example, make themselves impossible to forget, but I'm not sending him Hallmark cards or voting for him.

It's self-evident that Bennett is a massive tool. Cullinane is also a shameless self-promoter that only holds his seat due to the outsized influence of Lower Mills in a district mostly composed of Mattapan. Has he ever had an independent thought as opposed to kissing up to Walsh and Forry nonstop?

What is Doug's actual job, beside being a perennial bizzaro world candidate? I know from past articles that he had been married to the Papa Ginos heiress, but they split. Is he living off alimony and random sheets of crudely painted plywood? Resume?

up
Voting closed 0

He picked me up in an uber a few months back, handed me a flier instructing me to vote for him..

Seemed a bit odd, had a chuckle that his valedictorian status from 1997 was still prominently on the resume.
