Right-wing talk-show host won't have to reveal his sources for bogus Marathon-bombing stories after all

Abdulrahman Alharbi, a Saudi national whom talk-show host Glenn Beck kept blaming as the organizer of the Boston Marathon bombings long after it was obvious he wasn't, is dropping his defamation suit against Beck.

Patti Saris, a judge in US District Court in Boston, today agreed to dismiss the suit after lawyers for both sides told her they'd come to a settlement. Terms were not disclosed in Saris's ruling - which come roughly three weeks after she'd ordered Beck to cough up the names of the two Homeland Security agents he'd claimed were his sources.

Alharbi, who was living in the Boston area at the time of the bombings, was, in fact, injured by one of the explosions.

And not the gold Beck was pushing a few years back on uneducated idiots who thought the world was gonna crash because a black man was in the oval office.

Gold is down about 30% since I last saw one of his ads on TV.

On a related note, how is his Independence town going? Did he sucker any more idiots into that scam too?

If not, he was screwed.

No need to subject him to those CD's.
Sounds like cruel and unusual punishment in any case.

dressed in Colonial garb and crying fake tears while scribbling incoherent hostage notes on a blackboard is somehow less valuable then money?

So hard to compare.

But let me put it this way. I would pay, a lot, not to have to listen to those CD's.

whoah he is still on air? I completely forgot about this guy. With any luck the blowhards currently dominating the political landscape will be as irrelevant and forgettable 4 years from now.

This ultra left/right BS won't end anytime soon. You have people clutching to the past on the right and people indoctrinated with crap on the left.

Rational thought is as historical as hemp paper and actual suffrage.

What "ultra-left" is in the mainstream? There's a lot on the right, but as a whole we've pushed so far to the right over the past 35 years that people who are very moderate politically (Obama, WJC, Hillary even more so being slightly right) get labeled liberal or even socialist. Sanders is the closest to wholly on the left, but even he would be considered slightly moderate in the classical sense.

It's simply false equivalence to look at those on the political left and right in mainstream media in the US and claim there's any similarity in the extremes of each. Doing so just further cements those goalposts which have been moved so much over the years.

"Pushed so far right" over the past 35 years? On what issues? The funny thing is you mentioned Bill Clinton who once family said "the age of big government is over." Well apparently Barack "i've got a phone and pen and you didn't build that" Obama didn't get that "moderate" memo. Too many examples to mention but Obamacare? The left/Progressives truly wanted a complete take over of the public healthcare system i.e. public option; would you call that a conservative or even moderate health care proposal?

Further, besides Fox News what other mainstream (i.e. national or cable news programs) are on the right(politically)? CNN?

Your last comment seems to me a separate issue from your first. That being said, FoxNews has made its fortune and gained its rep by being proud and purposeful about being conservative, much as European media are unabashedly partisan. All other media with a big audience (there really is no such thing as MSM since Fox News, Rush Limbaugh etc all have audience numbers as big as the broadcast net news & CNN) with the exception of MSNBC, strive to bring out various points-of-view and at least attempting journalistic objectivity. FoxNews doesn't even try: their viewers are happy with hearing just their own POV, it seems. I think Murdoch would totally agree that is why he has done so very, very well. The downside: we have millions of viewers who see/hear/read virtually no other points-of-view.

Who does FoxNews have that is even a left equivalent to Joe Scarborough? You would consider Joe's views to be a lot different than Rachel Maddow's, yes?

The Blaze is still around, unfortunately. It's right up there with Breitbart, but without the name-brand recognition.

He is and he is surprisingly intelligent. I am very much NOT a fan of Glen Beck, but he was interviewed on NPR a little while back (I think about Gary Johnson, but I don't really remember) and he was amazingly calm and well spoken. He focussed on the intersections of Libertarian and Liberal ideals instead of just yelling about stupid this and that.

I know he is an entertainer and out to make money, but I was surprised at how much of what he does is really an act. He can keep a lid on when he needs to. I don't think respect is the right word, but I am impressed by how well he plays people. I wish he were irrelevant, but I don't think he is yet.

He's going bankrupt and the Blaze is flaming out.

He was being interviewed for something and actually apologized to the public for the stuff he pulled on Fox. (The way an addict has to apologize for those he has wronged). He looked to be extremely medicated at the time and actually said: "I didn't know everyone would take it all so seriously". But since then he has gotten himself a radio show and knows this is the only way he can make money.
