Moose on the loose until car slams into it in Westborough

Time for some "Brake for Moose" signs south of the Merrimack? The Westborough Fire Department shows us what they were up to overnight: Helping a motorist whose car smashed into Bullwinkle. The driver received minor injuries; no immediate word on the status of the moose.

A moose is one of the worst things you can run into with a car (or pickup or motorcycle). Picture a 1,000-pound sack of meat on stilts. If you hit it, the stilts will be knocked out from under it, and the meat will come through your windshield. People die from the experience.

This is very much correct. The only thing possibly worth pointing out is they are likely Eastern Moose, which are a bit lighter (750-850lbs) than the typical moose found in Canada (which are indeed around 1000lbs).

Moreover, it's moose mating season, so they (particularly bulls) are much more active right now. Moose are also more active at night, and they are also largely colorblind. They're also pretty quick, and can run at about 35mph.
