In deeds race, one candidate knows who Keytar Bear is, another doesn't

Politico reports that while Suffolk County Register of Deeds candidate John Keith had Keytar Bear at his formal campaign kickoff this week, Steve Murphy had no clue who Keytar Bear was.

Keytar Bear's a familiar sight to anybody who's spent time walking around City Hall - something Murphy didn't have to do since he had a free space in the City Hall garage while he served as a city councilor.

Politico did not ask the other two candidates in the race - Margherita Ciampa-Coyne and Joe Donnelly - for their views on Keytar Bear.

This is basically the "how much does a gallon of milk cost?" tossed at out-of-touch presidential candidates...Boston style.

with two first names. He wants you to support the traditional candidate...meat and potato's, Del Frisco's etc.

S1M on his Lincoln. True Vanity.

I am Old School Boston that has evolved. Steve Murphy is Old School Boston stuck in 1952. I would be shocked if he didn't have Cardinal Cushing saying the rosary on his IPod.

Vote for John A. Keith. I know Registry of Deeds doesn't sound like much, but it is one step in further smacking around the corrupt culture that we pay for with our taxes.

I agree with all the sentiments above - Steve Murphy's time has come and gone (long gone)!!! Go John Keith.....!

Will this have any effect on the quality of work done by the department? I had to email the registry twice to change my home's address to the correct location. What they had in the system was an address 12 miles away in Hyde Park. Not even a similar address.

Forgive my relatively new-Boston ignorance. What's S1M?

The "S" was the closest the RMV could come to a dollar sign, and the intent was at a glance to say "$1M", shorthand for "I've pocketed over a million dollars of taxpayer money by averaging a 7-hour work week for years"

I also plan on supporting any candidates I learn of who are running against long time office occupiers. The good majority of current serving politicians really are just self serving.

they clear out the flock of foreclosure seagulls that clog up the document tables in lieu of operating out of their own offices. These arrogant public space abusers need to move on.

But I could care less about his knowledge of pop culture in Boston.

I would much rather want him to explain why he is qualified for the office he seeks without using politician speech to obfuscate the fact that he is utterly unqualified.

Could you care less? I'm sure most of us could.

marketing campaign. For instance one could dumpster dive and gather old plywood, paint it red.....no wait...green then...

But not that much less. Slightly less.

(note- that pedantic error of mine is a big hang up for a friend of mine.)

If you have reached that level of not caring when you could not care at all, the proper phrase would be "couldn't care less". I always try to have that level of caring in reserve, just in case.

It has some back and forth on that as well. I gravitated to the Keytar Bear angle because, well, Keytar Bear!

But, yes, that would be an interesting question for a candidate forum, such as the ones that Murphy has yet to deign to attend.

And the article basically confirms that Murphy is running as a politician, pure and simple, while Keith is actually talking about the office.

No. Whenever Keytar Bear is performing, no posts from Adam. Coincidence?

As a registered Dem, what will my ballot look like for ROD options? If I don't support Murphy, do I have to write in?

Under Register of Deeds on the ballot, you'll see four names, you get to pick one (Murphy is the Democrat, the other three are running as independents).

with a background in open space real estate and coffee cup finance. Plus you'll get a free CD with a write in vote. Keytar for Boston!

As much as I hate people commenting on their own threads, I'll make an exception since this is about me.

A photo of me and Keytar Bear (he always seems to be in a good mood):

Murphy: "I have a lot of friends and loyalty from my years in public service and that transcends the campaign." READ: I've got this coming to me. No need to run.

Go work in the dreaded private sector for a change? And why do we vote for a Register of Deeds? Can't they just hire a hack after an exhaustive nationwide search?
