Ready for some Christmas music?

WSRS, way up there on the FM dial, way out there in Worcester, is now pumping out Christmas music, Tyler reports.

I feel the same way about it, as I did about the election.

So over it.

You need not believe in witches to celebrate Halloween, nor religion to wish Joy to the World!

"Way up"?

Since when is 96.1 "way up" on the dial?

As in FM, as opposed to AM. Yes, I am one of those olds who still has AM presets on the car radio.

I don't listen to Christmas music until Dec 1st.

Are you ready for incessant and annoying bell ringers? Because we are stuck with them for the next two months as well.

what I find very bothersome, however, is the fact that

A) The Christmas season has been starting way too early these days.

B) Schmaltzier renditions of beautiful Christmas Carols tend to blare at everybody from the stores.

C) Even though Christmas isn't my holiday, I've always regarded Christmas carols as a very beautiful type of music that're only to be played and/or sung at a very special time of the year. Starting the Christmas season in October, imho, kind of spoils that a little bit.

However, consider four things about the bell ringers:

1 - They stand at places where the majority of people who pass by them daily are the same people. Doesn't seem like they'd get much in the way of donations after the first day or so.

2 - They seem to be clustered so that those same people pass by multiple bell ringers in a short distance daily. - See comment about # 1 above.

3 - They often locate themselves in areas (i.e. North and South Stations) where people are waiting around. That incessant bell wears thin pretty quickly.

Lastly, It's TOO DAMM EARLY for them to be out there. Bell ringers are a traditional symbol of Christmas, and we haven't even gotten to Thanksgiving. It's bad enough the retailers don't respect this, but for a charity to not do so IMO is inexcusable.

...and this popped up on my FaceBook feed this morning:

Oh - Christmas songs! Oh - Christmas songs!
I hear you far too early!
Oh - Christmas songs! Oh - Christmas songs!
Please - not 'til after turkey!
Radio stations far and near,
and shopping malls with piped-in Cheer.
Oh - Christmas songs! Oh - Christmas songs!
They play you far too early!

We went to the Brighton IHOP yesterday (don't judge!). They were playing Christmas music over the PA.
