Doug just latches on to whatever he thinks is the flavor of the day. Remember when he spoke at a teabagger rally on the Boston Common?

Why, I was there. Well, OK, not the Common, but Christopher Columbus Park.

I don't know Bennett but there's no question that the completely lopsided coverage against Trump helped him win. Thanks media! Still waiting to hear how many Boston Globe subscriptions were canceled in the days following the fake Boston Globe front page against Trump, predicting nuclear war, racism etc. It must have been major if nobody wants to cover it. As I've repeated, when I called the 617 "Dorchester" number for the Globe to cancel, after an hour on hold I reached a lovely woman in the Philippines who told me in broken-English, "many, many" had called to cancel. I politely declined the many freebies and incentives she offered to stay.

I'm sure the fact she lost has nothing to do with the FBI making a baseless accusation 10 days out then quietly admitting it bogus just shortly before Nov 8th.

So far the "liberal" media's reporting has been factual before and after the election. The fact voters decided they didn't care about facts isn't a reason to stop fact-based reporting.

I break my self promise to never respond to you..

That the media was biased against your Dear Leader is 100% false. Millions in free advertising and coverage without questioning his lies or fanning of white nationalism is not bias. Zucker at CNN said it himself.

Media lopsided against Trump?? Are you serious!! He got an amazing amount of free air time and all of his disgusting and hateful speech was dismissed as mere bravado and locker room banter. You must be joking! This election exemplified THE MOST egregious media bias in favor of the republican candidate that I have ever witnessed!

slobbering all over Trump, with stars like Hannity never taking off their Trump-brand kneepads.

There are some pretty comical wingnut myths out there, but your head has to be in a deep, dark place to swallow the one about the press being unfair to Don.

From my perspective, the press utterly failed the electorate this year (again) by focusing on the horse race and not pressing the candidates on the issues.

Just as Liberty University is part of the biased liberal colleges in the nation?

Why do reactionaries constantly whine about the liberal media? Because they understand that the only way to make a lie believable is to say it over and over and over again.

Interesting thing about Liberty University. Even their name hides a lie. Over the years, to defect the Christian political ideology less prominent they have changed the name from Lynchburg Baptist College to Liberty Baptist College. Yet bigotry and hypocrisy by any other name will still retain its stench.

most of the newsworthy things happening in Boston for the last week have been racially-motivated assaults or defacements. Coincidentally, this happened right after we elected Orange Julius Caesar, who had been openly encouraging his followers to do exactly that.

Nah, that can't be it. I'll bet it's actually just Adam's insidious plan to convert all of his readers to the church of leftism.

As it's becoming clear that Team Trump didn't expect to win and had no idea how many positions they'd have to fill, a clever plywood sign shown to the right person at the right time might get you appointed Ambassador to Italy.

You can be on the opposing team and still respect the achievment of the other team.

That's the whole problem in a nutshell: America has become one giant ugly immature dumbass high school sportball rivalry.

Doug was on the other team: the Dems. Until the winds of fortune shifted, and suddenly he thought he could hitch his wagon to the ascending power of Trumpism to win elected office (any office!), mostly by making dogwhistle racist remarks in public places and then acting like offended when called out on it. Given Doug's rich and storied history, I'm guessing he's a natural.

...well it seems Dougie shows up to the football field wearing skates, holding a badminton racket and twiddling his competitive tournament pogs. From his end of the spectrum I imagine Trump looks like quite the staid statesman.

He sometimes styles himself as a pundit, and the post appears to be just that. Show me so Bennett speak from October where he lauds Trump, and I'll say you have a point.

Say what you want about the small handed man, but he took down the GOP establishment in the primaries and got to 270 electoral votes before a season political veteran who a former rival refered to as "the most qualified candidate ever". It's an impressive accomplishment .

as far as the conservative portion of the nation is concerned:

Her gender and her last name. If the Democratic candidate had been a man and not named Clinton he would have won both the majority vote and Electoral College.

The FBI director playing politics by shooting at her campaign might not have been a fatal attack but probably it probably bled votes away.

This is one of the reasons the Electoral College should be eliminated and replaced with a simple majority vote. Just as the Senate was growing corrupt when the state legislatures elected Senators the Presidential election is now susceptible to a corrupted invalid (but still legal) voting process based not on the nation's will but by pitting states against each other.

Clinton's flaws were-

1. Bungling the Benghazi attacks. No, I am not talking about real time failures, or failures to note the concerns of diplomatic staff, but rather how I sat down to watch Meet the Press the Sunday afterwards and had to listen to a State Department employee note that the attacks were in response to that stupid video, which they knew was bullshit. The first two things are bunglings, but the third thing was calculated.

2. Bungling the private e-mail issue. Look, it was wrong, and were she an employee of the State Department when that came out, she would have been fired to say the least, but lets get beyond that. She ducked and weaved around the issue, keeping it alive so much that when the Wiener thing came out, it was fresh on the voters' minds.

3. Not connecting with the voters. Yes, she won more votes than any other candidate in 2016, but that's not saying much. She seemed a bit more concerned with the monied classes who financed her campaign than she was with the average American. She failed to get states that should have been in her column to vote for her. Which leads us to-

4. Having a poor campaign strategy (hubris.) Campaigning in Arizona? Arizona? Really, you could not have stopped on Wisconsin once. And why did you concentrate on demonizing Trump when you could have had Warren and countless other surrogates doing that while you laid out your vision for the next 4 years.

And, no, the Electoral College should not be eliminated. It's there for a reason, and this election is an example of why it is there. I'm a bit surprised that a Wellesley graduate didn't know how the President gets elected, but see number 4 for that.

Oh, hey, yeah, let's re-litigate the "Is Clinton likeable?" thing for the 4,078th time.

1. Go look up the number of embassy attacks and deaths that occurred on the watch of the three secretaries of state preceding Clinton. Go ahead, I'll wait. Then explain why the Republican noise machine was strangely silent about these.

2. Again: since email became a word that the average person knew, every secretary of state (and most senior officials in federal agencies) has run their own servers. At no time was this illegal, as the laws against it were passed in 2013, after Clinton had been out of the SecState gig for two+ years. In hindsight, it was probably for the best that her email was kept somewhere else, as the Russian security apparatus apparently has little difficulty getting into .gov email repositories. The fact that this was still being reported breathlessly LAST WEEK by respectable new outlets as though it were some grand failure of judgment on her part is about as strong of evidence against the insidious liberal media that I can give you.

3. The all-time largest number of absolute votes received in a national election:
1. Obama 2008
2. Obama 2012
3. Clinton 2016
Any argument that she "didn't connect with the voters" is pure bullshit dogwhistle sexism, and you know it. She laid out dozens of plans to help middle America, which is the bread and butter of the modern Democratic party. She won the popular vote by what is trending toward 3-4 million votes.

4. She made one major tactical error, which was ignoring the surge of white nationalism that Trump tapped. I'd argue that's a feature, not a bug, but it sure did cost her the election. "Hubris" is a hell of a stretch. Wisconsin never polled within three points for Trump, and has been blue for twenty years. Yes, there was a large-scale strategic failure of internal polling, which I'll be very interested to see dissected over the next few months--this was an unprecedented failure of a science that's supposedly pretty well understood, and I honestly don't know how it happened. Based on the available information, though, campaigning in Wisconsin made about as much sense as campaigning in Maryland.

5. The electoral college is there because of a 250-year-old exercise in sausage-making. Its primary purpose is to make sure that slave-holding states felt they were properly represented in national elections. The contemporary effect of the bicameral house and all of its associated baggage is that a vote in Wyoming is worth approximately four times as much as a vote in California, and neither of them is worth anything as compared to a vote in Ohio. It's a deeply flawed system that has handed the GOP two unearned electoral victories in 16 years, and which is going to be used to continue to shore up Republican control of the federal government.

Dougy was only pointing out how amazed he was at Trump's victory.

But anyway, feel free to make broad assumptions about why people voted as the voted if it will make you feel better. Perhaps when you are okay you can ponder the real reasons why a guy like Trump won the electoral vote, which is the only metric of Presidential electoral success.
