Try Nicole's. I never was a fan of Emilos when I lived in the 'hood. I always ordered from Nicole's.. food was better.

Nicole's has a cat. I see it in the window when they're closed and it grosses me out.

I have a cat too. I had the same cat when I lived one street over from Nicole's... guess what I didn't have (and probably Nicole's too).. MICE and RATS. I could hear them crawl up the piping between apartments at night.. but because my cat would guard door under the kitchen sink and they never came inside. Most of Boston has a severe rat and mice problem.. cat's are nature's remedy for those.

I'd take a cat over mouse droppings near food any day. Or I'll take a cat over poisons near food also.

Don't like cats. They make me sneeze. If it doesn't bother you, that's cool. Bothers me, so I avoid.

I'll have to try Rome Pizza.

Only been there once, after an event at the Cyclorama. Pizza was nothing special.

A favorite place for my family for many years in the SE. Hate to see it go. Loved their eggplant parm!

They leave a big gap. They were good neighbors and very inexpensive.

Nearby food places are much more expensive. Nicoles's is good, but a bit far (about 2 blocks) if you're on that end of Tremont, or on your way to an event at the BCA.

never thought their food was great, but it was consistent, quick, friendly, priced fairly and the later hours were a bonus.

Those ubiquitous white Emilio's vans will surely be missed. But food-wise, there are at least two better options -- Rome Pizza, especially for their burgers and the absolute best chicken tenders; and the aforementioned Nicole's Pizza, highly recommended for their calzones and Middle Eastern fare like the hummus and falafel roll-up. Man, I miss my South End days. And carbs :-)

Should we start taking bets to see if it gets replaced with a Bank.. a Burrito Place.. a Froyo shop.. or some other big chain?

Since he owns the building, rent was never a problem for the store (I assume). If he still owns the building, will he charge 'market rate', thus limiting the pool of available tennants?

Emilio's was our neighbor when we lived at 528 Tremont for eight years. Good business, good food. They'll be missed.

I won't miss their double-parking all day and night even though they had their "own" commercial space out front!

I don't see what people see in that place. Definitely not a fan.
