In East Boston, police came for the gun, but stayed for the cocaine, meth, heroin and cash

Drugs and guns seized in East Boston

Boston Police report officers responding to a report of a man with a gun at a triple decker on Bennington Street between Putnam and Prescott Thursday night stumbled on a cache of drugs and weapons that included more than 33 pounds of cocaine, nearly 4 1/2 pounds of meth, 1,010 oxycodone pills, a pound of heroin, four guns, six high-capacity magazines, 162 rounds of ammo and $$182,819 in cash.

The apartment's occupant, Roberto Alvayaro, 35, faces arraignment Monday in East Boston Municipal Court on charges of trafficking Cocaine over 200 grams,
trafficking methamphetamine over 200 grams, trafficking heroin over 28 grams, trafficking oxycodone over 100 grams, possession of a large-capacity firearm (4 counts), possession of a large-capacity feeding device (6 counts) and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Innocent, etc.

Ed. note: Post closed to further comments because people have pretty much said what can be said about this and now we've gotten into the screaming-match portion of tonight's show.

Wasn't it just a week or two ago when UHub reported on a federal indictment of an alleged meth ring? I'm always curious why cases like that one get elevated to the federal level, while this case -- which seems just as extensive and perhaps even more serious due to the the involvement of guns -- stays local.

The meth ring may well have had connections outside of MA, in which case it would become a federal case. Also, iirc, that one was a federal investigation.

This one, otoh, was a serendipitous MA finding.

Great score, BPD. Oh, just for the hell of it, they usually show off using a table. This stuff is covering a whole floor.

Somebody else will sell cocaine instead because, you know, people want to buy it. Just take $11,426 (6.25% of the seized cash) and move on.

As for the guns, will the NRA hire an attorney on the guy's behalf?

Agreed - prohibition is stupid. Last I checked though, the NRA doesn't finance the criminal defense of (alleged) drug dealers, and possessors of (likely stolen)illegal firearms.

Anon has a point about the guns. That amount of drugs is always surrounded by arms.
As far as the legality goes, there's heroin, coke, meth, and a thousand oxys.
Nobody wants meth legal or oxys outside of the legal prescription route.
Heroin and coke? Really? MAYBE for research, tightly controlled I think.

Is it the law now, when cops raid a drug dealers home and find a substantial amount of drugs and money the home can be confiscated by state or U.S. government agencies.
So this triple decker on Bennington street where the raid occurred could be on the auction block a year from now.

They can auction off a landlord's house because a dealer lived inside? That sounds like a bit of an overreach.

Sanctuary city so the feds may not even know about it unless they read UHub. Federal cases often start at the local or state police level. The U.S. Attorney's office will probably take a look at this given the volume of drugs/guns and based on the guy's record and immigration status. If it stays in the Mass. courts, look for a dismissal on some technicality but at least the guns and drugs are off the street.

I didn't see anything about him being an immigrant or non-citizen.

The papers have decided to protect us from that information.

The cops tell us everything. Bwahahaha.

He said, "The U.S. Attorney's office will probably take a look at this given the volume of drugs/guns and based on the guy's record and immigration status."

You didn't see immigration status. You saw Fish stating the US Attorney's office probable future procedure.

From Fish, "If it stays in the Mass. courts, look for a dismissal on some technicality but at least the guns and drugs are off the street."

Oh, ye of little faith. But, hey, I understand.

Deport yer mom.

Oh, wait ... she knew a guy who might have been native American at the local bar - everyone called him "chief". He was okay with Yer Mom being here so she was legal, right?

BTW ... "Sanctuary City" means that people REPORTING crimes do not get deported. Not that people COMMITTING crimes get protected. In fact, people REPORTING crimes against them means that the people COMMITTING crimes are MORE LIKELY to be deported. DUHHHH!

Get a grip. You're starting to sound like a strident harpy.

Anyway, football game on. Must join my deplorable bros in cheering for the Pats.

Like I give a shit what some sexist little alt-farmer Alex Jones acolyte "thinks" ... or is that "conflates".

...makes you look a little strident.
First, my gardening skills are minimal at best, second I have no idea why you slander (actually libel) the alternative farmers like these:

http://kvpr.org/term/alt-farmer (NPR Central California)

https://thebluereview.org/small-scale-farmers-in-alternative-food-networks/

Third, I don't read Alex Jones. I am not anyone's acolyte. I think Freeman Dyson's interesting, but not as smart as you.

So, if you can clean up your language and perhaps type like an adult, maybe your posts would be a bit more readable and you could get your ideas out there in a more comprehensive manner.
Oh, and calling someone 'dear' is condescending, rude and sexist. Some day some insulted snowflake might just get you in a lot of trouble.

She doesn't need to get a grip, and neither do i.

I am absolutely fed up with these fucking comments from the most il-informed people on the planet. And I'm sure swirly feels the same way.

Constantly over and over and over and over again we repeat what we say about sanctuary cities, and each and every time the same comments come back over and over again. It's like you aren't even reading... or more likely just don't care about facts.

Yes FACTS. Facts from news sources that aren't extremist websites or yellow journalism. It's time to get out of the conservative bubble.

Whatever..

So, I understand. You explained that in an adult manner, befitting a site where adults post comments.
She just lets loose with CAPITALIZED words, SHITFONT invective and (hmmmnnn...Oxford comma? Maybe?) condescending ad hominem attacks.

Maybe she's really losing it over President Elect Trump's upcoming inauguration. In that case, well, there are, well, like groups. Where people can talk. Sometimes in caps.

Obama deported 2.4 million people. Trump claims he'll do three million. I think the only folks that have to really fear deportation are the ones that should be deported. You know, like real criminals.

If that's what you think then you are really incapable of taking in data and forming a reality-based opinion despite your best attempts at not sounding like a ranting moron with an inflamed prostate that just won't quit (i.e., Fishy). Do you really think the 2.5 million deported by Obama were all "real criminals"? Do you think the 3 million Trump thinks he'll deport are all going to be "real criminals"? If we assume around 11 million undocumented immigrants, then you're believing that better than 25% of them are "real criminals." Get a fucking clue.

The court records and this guy's name are in the public record. If the feds can read every email and text message surely they have no problem scanning information that's actually intended to be made public. If they want to pick this guy up the day he walks out of court or jail, they'd have no problem doing so.

I've explained and explained what a sanctuary city is on here on a number of occasions. Let me break it down to you in bold caps italic lettering for you AGAIN.

SANCTUARY CITIES DO NOT PROTECT UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS WHO COMMIT CRIMES WHILE LIVING IN THE UNITED STATES. THEY IMMEDIATELY WILL BE HANDED OVER TO ICE.

SANCTUARY CITIES ARE DESIGNED TO HELP UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS WHO NEED LAW ENFORCEMENT'S HELP WITHOUT THE FEAR OF BEING DEPORTED BECAUSE THEY WERE A VICTIM OF A CRIME.

THAT IS ALL. NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS.

but I bet it won't sink into your pea-sized fish brain.

I DON'T FUCKING CARE about that one case in San Francisco everyone seems to bring up about. That is ONE case out of the millions of undocumented immigrants in this country. Save the argument for someone who gives a crap because I DON'T FUCKING CARE.

And I also don't care to hear "Well they broke the law by being here" because...

I DON'T FUCKING CARE.
I DON'T FUCKING CARE.
I DON'T FUCKING CARE.
I DON'T FUCKING CARE.

Oh yeah... I DON'T FUCKING CARE.

So go suck Alex Jones's InfoWars dick some more Fishy. I DON'T FUCKING CARE.

(I am sorry for the rest of the folks to see me a bit unhinged a bit, I'm tired his very incorrect postings all the time. I also have gotten 6 hours of sleep in the past 5 days, so I'm a bit on edge)

Come on Fish-face you know better than this. As soon as this asshole had his fingerprints taken locally they went straight to the Department of Justice's database and then on to Department of Homeland Security. Before he even got put in a holding cell he's been checked out against the FBI and ICE's databases. If he has something going on with immigration -- WHICH YOU ARE ONLY ASSUMING BECAUSE HE HAS A LATINO NAME -- ICE will send a detainer request to BPD (which isn't really necessary because given the nature of his crime, I don't think he's getting out on bail anytime too soon) and they will honor it BECAUSE SANCTUARY CITY PROCLAMATIONS AND TRUST ACT ORDINANCES DO NOT PREVENT LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT FROM WORKING WITH ICE ON CASES THAT THEY DECIDE THAT THEY WANT TO. And BPD has made it clear that when it comes to violent crimes and dangerous individuals they will use every "tool" available to them, including getting criminals on immigration violations they also may have on their record.

So take your ignorant posts and cram them up your ass (assuming you first remove your head from said locale).
