Boston weatherman now most hated person in Kansas City

WBZ reports stupid Kansas City fans angry at Chiefs left tackle Eric Fisher are unloading on Channel 4 meteorologist Eric Fisher, at least on Twitter. He's even gotten death threats.

So, by rooting for the Steelers you admit you're one of the Subset: football fans. Raise not your expectations. troglodytes?

i am not rooting for the steelers, i am rooting against the patriots.

the patriots, known for cheating, whose head coach wrote a letter to trump saying what a great leader trump is....

lack of morals is the theme in that locker room.

Scary stuff right there. Good luck with that.

You claim to love Boston yet you slag off the people who live here and the institutions they love. Strange bird.

Hey, damaged goods! Yes, you, the neurotic twit whose only pleasure is in pissing on anything that other people enjoy! Have I got a dream date for you...

Stop fronting, please. I doubt you even heard of the Steelers before Sunday; you're obviously not a fan of theirs, you're just an overgrown brat whose only delight is being a snotty againsty pain in everyone's ass. You have no genuine enjoyment for anything, you're just pathological.

This bizarre and dangerous cult of athleticism should be curtailed before more innocent children are sucked into its all-encompassing delusions.

At the very least, its quasi-tax-exempt status ought to be revoked.

I think they gave it up a year or two ago. And it was the NFL, not the individual franchises that were non-profits. The NFL, like the PGA and the NHL, was a 501(c)(6) - which covers trade groups and business leagues, like the American Medical Assn. Essentially they promote the business and act as a pass-through (with salaries taken out for their staff). They have to make public all their tax filings (which means we used to be able to see how much Goodell was getting paid - no more). I think the revenue on the books for the NFL was actually quite a bit less than the PGA - which is still tax free.

People frequently squawk on here about revoking various churches' tax exempt statuses -- maybe the High & Holy Faith of the Sport-Ball ought to be excommunicated from tax free status. As the players like to say after they take off for a bigger check or when a franchise owner moves from say, San Diego to L.A., "it's a business." So why not fucking tax it?

The players are independent contractors and all/most of the PGA run tourneys are fundraisers. Very small organization - based on the size of their HQ

PGA HQ

I'm guessing maybe a couple hundred employees (plus a traveling staff that organizes events).

I'm guessing the PGA has HUUUUGE revenue - but it probably includes what they pay out to the players in winnings.

Other than a handful of highly compensated execs (though fairly for the jobs they do relative to their peers), nobody is getting rich at the PGA tour. Usually to land a job like that you make dirt until/unless you move pretty far up the ladder because there are always 100 people waiting in line for your job.

Would they even pay the players? Generally, I thought the tournaments actually had the responsibility for generating the winnings pool.

They probably generate a lot in sponsorships and the like, which may get passed to the tournaments as well or may pay for the overhead (like running the qualification school).

Checking out their 990 -- yeah a lot of their revenue (which in total is over a billion dollars - while the last year the NFL was a full non-profit their revenue was $619 million) is being paid out to the players -- but as far as I can see there are a number of people getting rich at the PGA. I'm sure the office interns are not, but I would guess it's more than 12 people pulling in huge salaries. They do pay their payroll tax, but I fail to see why the organization itself should not be paying taxes like any other corporate entity (which you weren't actually arguing for or against).

Looks like the tournament revenue flows through the organization.

Should they be taxed? Meh - not a big deal. They generate $36 million after expenses. Total taxes would be about $10 million a year on that - not chump change - but not big bucks in the scheme of national finance - and now that it goes into a non-profit - it can't be divvied out to an individual - would have to go to another non-profit if the organization ceases to exist.

Are a bunch of people making big money - a few more than I thought - but not much. Guessing that these people are worth their salt or the board wouldn't keep them on. I have no idea how easy it would be to replace these people - but if you look at Finchem making $7 million (who was just replaced by a gentleman who hails from Belmont), by all accounts he has done a remarkable job - VASTLY increasing purses for the players (which are taxed heavily) and the amount given to charities over his 20 odd year tenure.

Should they be taxed - probably - but not going to lose a lot of sleep over it especially since $10 million goes direct to reputable charities rather than the government where I'm guessing it does a lot more good.

All the equity in the league is held by individual franchises (i.e. team owners). Legally the NFL is just a trade organization that connects the teams together.

It's the same way how if you own a $3 million three family house, and you condominiumize it, then your original parcel is given a tax value of $0 while the three newly created condominiums are valued at $1 million each. It's not a tax evading scheme, it's just how the bookkeeping works.

That Twitter is garbage. I mean, it says "WBZ meteorologist" right there in the description. Also, there's a photo of a very fit man atop Mt. Washington.

If you think a guy with that body is a left tackle in the NFL, you should never vote or breed.

I doubt they're getting as far as the profile. Probably just using the autofill. You just start typing @-e-r-i-c-f-i-s and Twitter does the rest.

If Fisher doesn't make that hold, Alex Smith gets pancaked by James Harrison and they don't even get a second shot at the two-point conversion. You could argue that Fisher shouldn't have gotten beat by Harrison and been forced to make that hold, but that LB is a monster (six tackles, one sack, two quarterback hits, and three tackles for loss in that game): watch him next Sunday. He's old, but plays much younger: he's still plenty dangerous.

Yeah if you can see where his block starts (neck high, practically) Fisher has no chance but to swing Harrison to the ground. He's a short dude (shy of 6', which is tiny by LB standards) so you've got to get really low to get leverage on him. And he's so so so strong. His weight room highlight reel is almost as great as his on-field highlight reel.

Go Steelers!

He is also doing snowfall totals for snowplowing contractors and remains active as an on-call meteorologist, having covered Hurricanes Irene (August 2011), Isaac (August 2012) and Sandy (October 2012) and Election Week coverage (November 5-9, 2012) for CNBC. He was an on-air television and radio meteorologist at KTVX ABC4 in Salt Lake City, Utah (2007-2010) and at WWLP in Springfield MA (2006) after leaving WHDH-TV) in Boston. Todd Gross is also into Online Marketing, Particularly Video Marketing. He has become one of the mainstream promoters of Green screen video making on the Internet. Whether Eric predicted this or not is moot as we aren't in Kansas anymore Toto. There's an east wind blowing so Fishermen everywhere should beware!
