JP's burger deficit to be eased with new Jackson Square place

Sure, Grass Fed in Forest Hills just shut down, but now word comes that Jackson Square at the other end of JP will be getting a burger joint. Jamaica Plain News reports a small chain called MOOYAH (which sounds like what they should've shouted every time you placed an order at BurgerFi in West Roxbury, only it wasn't, and now they're gone, too) plans an outlet at Columbus and Centre.

The one on Comm Ave near Pleasant St has been "closed for renovations" for over a year, without even any sign the place may actually be truly defunct and no sign that the space is up for lease.

Bobby Flay couldn't make his celeb-chef burger chain fly at the frickin' Burlington Mall: if not there, where? Peak Burger was about three years ago.

I'm all for better-quality fast-food burgers, had my favorite over the holidays at Flat Patties in Harvard Square, and I'm happy that Tasty Burger is doing very fine burgers and fries and shakes at Fenway -- where the burgers were just inedible for decades -- and elsewhere around town (coming soon to North Station).

But if yours isn't extraordinary and it's $9 (looking at you, Wahlburgers, though you probably have enough local cachet to stretch that one out for a few more years), maybe it's time to consider a more of-the-moment concept in 2017. Hawaiian poke, say, or big vegetarian bowls. I'm pulling for Americans to finally grok the joys of Korean food in bigger numbers, and quality traditional regional Mexican cuisines are still criminally underappreciated. It's time.

Cat cafe? Oatmeal specialist? Maybe only one or two of those is enough for now, maybe ever. But you still gotta move with the times, find a niche where you're not competing against the scale advantages of the damnable national chains. You don't want to be doing a frozen-yogurt franchise at this late date. Quality burgers for every taste and budget are already pretty much everywhere in Boston now.

Tasty is coming to North Station? (apparently so)

Crappy location tho.. its BEHIND everything. Still closer than going to BackBay or Harvard Sq for me. Good news!

Give us some damn vegan food. Boston is so ethically backwards for a supposedly progressive city.

with sanctimony.

Vegan and vegetarian restaurant options have been expanding steadily in Boston for the last ten years. It will get better over time, as we meat-loving olds age out of the population through obesity, cardiovascular disease, and falling off of balconies while enjoying bacon.

The only sanctimony I see is yours. Sounds like you've got a guilty conscience. There are numerous resources out there to help you to transition to an environmentally and ethically sound lifestyle if you're interested in doing something with those feelings of guilt

'nuff said.
Love the place, and its owned/operated by an independent owner. Young guy, very nice. AND they got a neighborhood beer and wine license. Their burgers cost about half what you'd pay at a bar.
There is no such thing as "peak burger" haha
