GE decides it no longer needs a heliport

The Globe reports GE has told the city and state, nope, never mind.

Odds that the city and state will now stop looking for a place to put a heliport?

I was hoping Jeff Immelt was going to drop turkeys to us poor GE subsidizers next Thanksgiving.

WKRP 'fake news' for entertainment purposes seems to have spread this misconception.

In reality our mastery of flight and the majestic terror it inspires in the hearts of our foes is unquestionable.

If GE could just master the technology to teleport, they wouldn't need a heliport!

Maybe then they could transport the pollutants out of the Housatonic river instead of trying to weasel out of cleaning it the normal way.

Wouldn't you like to be a tonic too?

We're still paying for GE anyways. Its not like we lowered the tax break they got because they didn't get a helipad.

Give it a year, after the election and you'll quietly see this come up again.

GE HQ has been downsized to 600 positions. The original deal was premised on 800 jobs, 700 of which were already filled by employees relocating from CT.

I don't have the details of the deal so i can't calculate how this development affects clawing back tax abatement,

someone in the PR department at GE got their way.

Odds Marty and/or Charlie had a hand in it since everyone hated the idea and election season is coming?

A boat from Fan Pier to Logan could serve lots of Fort Point and Seaport businesses, not just GE. (Doubly so if the heliport can be at Logan.)

You can already take a water taxi from Fan Pier to the airport. I do it all the time. Summer or winter.
