Citizen complaint of the day: The least lazy-ass New Hampshirites can do is show some respect for Southie

Unshoveled driveway on East 6 Street in South Boston

A vexed citizen files a 311 complaint about a driveway and sidewalk on East 6 Street:

Please clean your condo it's bad enough all your cars are registered in New Hampshire so respect my town.

I was under the impression that some time back the RMV was going to crack down on out of state plate owners living in Massachusetts. And I was picturing any car parked overnight with CT or such plates to be impounded or ticketed on the principle that such a car clearly had to be in violation. Hell you could probably pick off 20 cars just in my block in Brighton alone on that basis. Alas, nothing has changed.

Here.

Of course, you have to mail or fax it in since they don't have email or an online form.

Really.

When I click on the link to the PDF form, I just get a 404 error page.

I guess I could just mail them a letter requesting the form. Then, they can make a copy of the form and mail it to me. Then, I can fill it out and mail it back. Should all be sorted out by autumn.

I've mailed both and faxed in more than a handful of these over the last two years. They do nothing. There are people on my block who have been using out of state plates for 5 years.

Nope.

Temporary residents (aka students) do not have to switch their registration.

Military stationed in the area do not either.

Exemptions

The following groups of people are exempt from the residency requirement and do not need to provide any of the numbers or documents listed above:

Nonresident Student - A nonresident enrolled as a student at a school or college in Massachusetts who attends school during any period from September 1st of any year to August 31st of the following year and who has a temporary residential address in Massachusetts while attending such school.
Military Personnel - A person who is an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States whose permanent home is in another state, who is assigned to a base or facility in Massachusetts, and who has a temporary residential address in Massachusetts.
Senior citizen - A person who is at least 65 years of age and who is a resident of Massachusetts.
Disabled person - A person of any age who is a resident of Massachusetts and who otherwise meets the definition of a disabled person who would qualify for a handicapped placard or HP plates under Massachusetts law.

a 1/2 in of snow. Act like a Bostonian instead of like a Southerner.

A half inch of snow you say? That's more than enough for cry baby Boston drivers to put out space savers and complain about the condition of the roads that people clear for them. Pedestrians on the other hand are expected to trudge through a foot of snow for days on end.

I wonder how long Southie residents have been registering their cars in NH. I first became aware of it in the mid 1970s when I worked in South Boston. Apparently the tradition is still going strong.
Are we allowing these cheaters to vote in Massachusetts? Trump really needs to crack down on this. Someone needs to name names.

while living in South Boston. The fact is that the only vehicles registered in New Hampshire and owned by Boston residents are buses. In fact the only time those buses are driven is on federal election days when they are packed with illegals and terrorists heading north to disenfranchise New Hampshirites. It's true because I read it in the Herald.

Funny, the Commonwealth of MA considers the crime of a MA resident registering a car in NH as worthy of a telephone hotline, 1-800-I-PAY-TAX. Neighbors and co-workers are encouraged to report violations. The Boston print and electronic media have done several "gotcha" stories on violators, lest they fail to pay their "fair share" in taxes and fees.

Yet when it comes to the likelihood that some MA residents use the "same day" option to register to vote in NH, there is no hotline or encouragement to report, rather disdain for those who raise questions.

Perhaps AG Maura Healey could free up an operator from her laughable Trump Terror hotline for NH residents who witness people getting out of MA vehicles on Election Day, walking in, registering and voting. Crickets.

There are more illegally registered cars in a typical Southie block than there are total illegal voters in the entire state of NH. And you know it. But you wont admit it. Because you are hilarious. Please proceed.

You know, right(?), that when you show up to do same-day registration you have to show some documents to prove you live in NH. Could you scam the system with a fake ID? Maybe, but probably not. Is this the source of the (non-existent) "massive voter fraud"? No friggin' way.

If you have no proof of NH residence, you just sign an affadavit.

Besides, it's not a NH plate

Even if this "voter fraud" bullshit were a thing that happens, how would it be Massachusetts' job to monitor voting in New Hampshire?

Perhaps New Hampshire could police its own polls if they want them policed. Or perhaps you could volunteer to do that for them. Better yet, you could produce all these witnesses that, I suspect, exist only in your fevered imagination.

OTOH, if you care about your sanity and long-term viability, perhaps you should consider not simply swallowing whole anything that 45 and his gang of criminals and liars dishes up. Your head is going to explode if you keep this up.

I'll bet you were wearing your "I'm With Her" t-shirt and petting your therapy dog when Jilly announced her plans to embezzle money for the recount. What wound up happening? They found plenty of additional votes went to Trump.

I guess those are "anecdotes" as your favorite former Massachusetts governor would have said...voter fraud by democrats? Crazy talk....my apologies, carry on.

If you want to hold a protest this weekend, count me in.

Everywhere is a safe space.....your concern for my well being is appreciated though.

I even apologized and offered to partake in a protest this weekend....just can't win around here I guess.

Doesn't a property owner have some amount of time after the snow has stopped to clear the sidewalk, especially when it's not a school day?

up
Voting closed 0

The Newbies expect the condo association and/or Mommy and Daddy to shovel their sidewalk.
It's sad but they don't even own shovels but have plenty of space savers,

up
Voting closed 0

Typically the condo association is paying a subcontractor of some sort (be it a service, a maintenance person, etc.) to perform duties such as snow removal and garden maintenance.

The condo residents would be paying fees to have this done for them. Therefore, if the subcontractor is falling down on his job, it is whoever is in charge of the condo association's job to hold said subcontractor accountable for not upholding their end of the contract. It typically would not be the individual residents' job to do the job for them.

It is assumed that you can survive the crunch of snow without calling city hall. Alas, no.

up

Elderly would have a very hard time on 1 inch of snow.

up

Maybe we shouldn't have any curbs, or corners, or cement sidwalks because...the elderly. If you can't get through a 1/2 of snow, you shouldn't be walking outside in the winter alone. Even clear sidewalks have ice, and blown snow.

You know, those people who pay taxes and have a right to be able to get out, walk around, and not die because some lazy idiot can't be bothered to do his job?

up
Voting closed 0

I don't know about that but while I was shoveling this weekend a guy in his 20's came out and was looking at his car covered with snow. He was staring at it baffled. I ask if he needed a shovel and some help and he said "oh I should have came out earlier I thought the plows would clear my car of all the snow and I would just clean the top". These poor kids have no clue.

up
Voting closed 0

That did not happen. Rule #1 when making up a story is that it needs to be somewhat believable. This was not.

I mean, clearly if the person was that naive they would have just driven away with the snow on top of their car.

up

Honest to God truth.

Nobody under the age of 40 knows they have to shovel their car out. Congrats on meeting that kid (who can't speak english) the day of his first snowstorm. Let me guess, he's a trust funder "newbie" who also doesn't pick up his dog shit and walks home from the bars late at night making lots of noise.

up
Voting closed 0

Again, I know it's hard to believe but... I actually felt kinda bad posting about it because he was a sweet kid. He actually thought the plows would take all of the snow off the car on the street side and he would just clean the top. I'm not picking on the young man just sharing my story so you can just calm down now. Was this you? It seems like I hurt some feelings.
