White supremacists postering up UMass Boston

An official at UMass Boston says the school is trying to stamp out white-supremacy posters that have been appearing on campus in recent days.

In an e-mail to the school community today, Provost Winston Langley writes that a group, which he does not identify, has been sneaking around the campus at night posting "intimidating flyers" that are causing "anxiety and anger."

The University of Massachusetts Boston, consistent with its identity, is an open forum for ideas, theories, beliefs, orientations, experiences, and commitments. The university, however, rejects modes of exchange that circumvent its standards of openness and that surreptitiously seek to intimidate its students, faculty, staff or visitors. In particular, the university rejects all forms of racism, ethnocentrism, and invidious discrimination.

Intimidation of any member of our community is intimidation of all members. We stand in solidarity.

Langley did not mention the group or cite specific language from the flyers, but based on this tweet, they're the work of a group called Identity Evropa, a California-based white supremacist group founded by a guy who served five years in prison for robbing an foreign-born cab driver at gunpoint. He's also a big fan of David Duke and punchable Nazi Richard Spencer.

Similar posters have gone up at UMass Amherst and Mt. Holyoke as well.

Things are only going to get worse. Just yesterday Trump suggested that Jews were the ones responsible for terrorizing Jewish centers and defacing Jewish cemeteries. Then of course there was his singling out of immigrants. Funny how he made no mention of his supporters attacking and killing immigrants and muslims.
David Duke is thrilled with all of this. Just check his twitter feed. If you find yourself on the same side as the former head of the KKK maybe you need to examine your life and the choices you are making.

One of the subjects they use as background for their posters is Michelangelo's David. I guess they never learned that David was, you know, a Hebrew/Jew. And methinks they don't usually go around projecting how great Jews are.

I think they were just trying to project general "European-ness is Awesome!" reactions to having classical statues used, but it's just sort of ironic and funny.

At least, it would be funny a few years ago. Now it's just shameful.

Well, I watched the speech last night.
Here's what President Trump said:
"TO THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES:

Mr. Speaker, Mr. Vice President, Members of Congress, the First Lady of the United States, and Citizens of America:

Tonight, as we mark the conclusion of our celebration of Black History Month, we are reminded of our Nation’s path toward civil rights and the work that still remains. Recent threats targeting Jewish Community Centers and vandalism of Jewish cemeteries, as well as last week’s shooting in Kansas City, remind us that while we may be a Nation divided on policies, we are a country that stands united in condemning hate and evil in all its forms.

Each American generation passes the torch of truth, liberty and justice –- in an unbroken chain all the way down to the present."

True, he made no mention of his supporters, as you put it, attacking immigrants and Muslims. Well, by "immigrants" you must mean "illegal immigrants". There's a difference. As far as Muslims go, the KC Indian attack that he referenced might be Hindu. His bad. Sorry. As far as "his supporters", then if you lump his supporters in with KKK assholes, then you are libeling them.
He asked for the support of Democrats to help make things better.
But, the Dems are so poisoned against him that will never happen.

So, life goes on.

One who requires weekend retreats in Florida, can still manage to speak at more than one event.

The comment was not about his nighttime speech but about what he told state attorneys general earlier in the day.

Do try to keep up with the news ...

Interesting choice of phrasing. For a guy who believes so strongly in magic words (e.g. "Radical Islamic terrorism"), he doesn't seem willing to say the word "antisemitism". He doesn't seem willing to point out that the victims in Kansas City were Muslim immigrants.

Truth is, he doesn't "stand united in condemning" antisemitism or anti-Muslim hatred in any way. He doesn't even condemn it in this speech. He simply implies that other Americans are condemning it.

Pretty sneaky, President Bannon.

Two of the victims (the dead guy and another) were Hindu. And legal immigrants, with green cards. Plus the european-descended citizen who tried to defend them.

The current administration couldn't give a rats ass about any of them.

Trump did make a comment suggesting Jews might have been responsible for the cemetery vandalism and threats. The speech you quote doesn't include this comment, but he still made it.

Trump's fault? Really. OK.

You antiTrumpys seem to be doing everything you can do to make me like this guy, and it is a hard sell. You people have so much lost your bearings that I can't seem to have a simple conversation with another adult without them assessing me for whether or not I'm sufficiently outraged by Trump. Get real, the President of the United States does not really matter to my day to day life. I survived Obama. I survived Bush. I will survive Trump and most of you will as well. Yes, your leftward expansion of the Administrative Central State will have a hiatus but it will continue in the future. Don't worry, the corrosion the leftward expansion generates will eventually destroy our Capitalistic system and we will devolve into State servitude as you wish, but it will be delayed by a couple of years. WAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Too bad. Michelle O or Chelsea C will be running in 2024 so you will have your glass ceiling breaking heroine. And unless you get hit by a bus you will probably still be here too. Just chill.

Trump's fault?

Your words, no one else's. If you disclaim a connection, however, you're just being disingenuous.

Stupid "You people" rant elided for the benefit of the reading public.

At this point I'm almost convinced that you are Fish's alter ego. Has anyone seen the two of you in the same place at the same time?
