What's the difference between Aaron Hernandez and a dollar bill? You can still get four quarters out of a dollar bill.

What's the difference between a bucket of shit and Aaaron Hernandez? The bucket.

A man went into a library and asked for a book on how to commit suicide.

The librarian said: "Fuck off, you won't bring it back."

I heard Aaron Hernandez tried to kill himself right after the Superbowl but he kept dropping the gun.

If there is a bright side for Hernandez , he'll never have to feel the effects football has on an aging body.

about his 4 year old daughter who gets to live with all of this too now?

ah hahahahah thats a hilarious one

up

I'm pretty sure his daughter is much better off without him.

i thought we were telling jokes here. didnt think a guy that would so cavalierly mock a convicted murderer that killed himself and left behind a child and a wake of destruction would so easily be offended by another joke being thrown in the mix

if you can't handle it, perhaps consider don't mocking the subject matter.

also, lol, yes, you joked in memoriam of his victims/their families. please dude. at least embrace what you are and don't hide behind some veil of victimized people to legitimize what you say.

you have fun making jokes about the subject matter because to you, it is either an outlet for your grief or just an enjoyable way to spend your wednesday morning. i'm having fun but i'm not going to pretend i'm helping any grieving families in the process lol

According to most studies, people's number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. Death is number two. Does that sound right? This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you're better off in the casket than doing the eulogy.

up
Voting closed 0

Those jokes were more for his victims and their families.

Really? I have never lost a loved one to a murder, but I really don't think that I would find myself comforted in any way by jokes such as yours. Are you quite sure you were acting on their behalf, and not for your own gratification?

For the record scummy I do think I understand your off brand sort of humor, but you don't do your self many favors, which I suspect is intentional.

up

couple of things, first off, the posts we make here are timestamped, so you managed to 'predict' something that happened 9 minutes prior to your subsequent edit, and also you have literally been asking me to kiss you for hours now and finally got your wish

i mean, you are far from the only person to be left unfulfilled by my kisses and you aren't going to be the last i'm sure, but lets not pretend i wasn't just granting your request.

as far as screen captures being technologically advanced? oh heavens no, i don't even bother doing the capturing myself. i just let ShareX do all the work for me. couldn't be less of a hassle, actually.

Life in prison or dead, his daughter was going to have a rough time of it.

Growing up with a monster in the house. Does anybody really believe he was likely to confine his violence to the field and his victims in the street? That girl's odds of living to adulthood improved the day he was put away.

But you know, trolls playing Devil's advocate. It's what they do.

up

Wasn't there some testimony during his first trial that he "swore on his daughter's life" to someone that he did not commit the murder? I don't know how the mother of the baby could still stand by him after hearing that.

But at least make jokes that are funny and/or relevant.

Two guys show up in Heaven at the same time. The first guy says he froze to death, and the second guy tells him that he died of a heart attack.

"How did that happen?" asks the first guy.

"Well, I came home and thought I heard my wife with another man. But when I searched the house, I couldn't find anybody. I was so stricken with remorse for wrongly accusing my wife of infidelity, I had a heart attack and died on the spot."

"Geez," says the first guy. "If you'd opened the fridge, we'd both be alive right now."

Brady, Long, Mccourty, Bennett, Blount, Branch, Hightower. A bunch of others said they aren't sure if they are going. That is a lot. Trump is very unpopular, so this is no surprise.

up
Voting closed 0

brady is a fan of trump. he wore a make america great again hat.

its no surprise though. a person that has been caught cheating (brady) supports a man that mocks people with disabilities and attacks the mom of a US soldier that died in combat (trump)

not exactly high moral people we are talking about here.

up

Add to the list of players not at the white house: Brandon Bolden, Dion Lewis, James White, Danny Amendola, Michael Floyd, Vincent Valentine, Barkevious Mingo, Malcolm Butler, Patrick Chung, Duron Harmon, Logan Ryan, Cyrus Jones, Ryan Allen, Jonathan Freeny, Tre’ Jackson, Greg Scruggs, Chris Barker, Tyler Gaffney, Woodrow Hamilton, and Devin Lucien.

So 89% is way off. Still, the correct percentage is way higher than Trump's pathetic approval rating.

up
Voting closed 0

Least of which is Hernandez, but tragic all the same. Obviously no sympathy for the man, but I wonder if it was just his father getting killed, or if he was just born a psychopath. Probably the latter. I also wonder how many other bodies he has along the way, hard to believe a guy just loses all of a sudden and goes on a shooting spree.

up
Voting closed 0

i mean, doesn't the whole "suddenly goes on a shooting spree" happen a lot without people committing prior murders?

in this particular case it seems more likely that, like football, he practiced the art of murder for awhile too.

and let us be honest, he was seemingly very adept at both

up
Voting closed 0

Sure, he did fine with the actual killing. And lets be honest folks, who here thinks he didn't kill AT LEAST 3 people? I don't care what that jury said.

As for the rest of it, he was a rank fucking amateur. Gun and car to his cousins. Shoots his best friend in an attempted cover up, and kills his other bestie 1 1/2 miles from his house, and spits his gum at the body. He was asking to be caught, even as he committed more crimes to cover up the double homicide. He was a loser, a thug, a complete dolt and may he rot forever in our memories.

up
Voting closed 0

i never suggested he was good at getting away with murder

up

In a cruel twist of fate, Hernandez's suicide may result in his winning himself a dismissal of his murder conviction.

Unless MA law has a wrinkle I don't know, the Odin case well could be be dismissed. This is because the MA Supreme Court has yet to rule in that case, and a state court conviction is not final until a defendant exhausts all his automatic appellate rights within the state system.

Hope I am wrong but does leave us with something to ponder.

up
Voting closed 0

and a state court conviction is not final until a defendant exhausts all his automatic appellate rights within the state system

AUTOMATIC appellate rights. In other words, presumed innocent AFTER proven guilty BY A JURY. Problem 8,245 with our "justice" system.

And if insuring a person is truly guilty is so important, then perhaps the prosecution should also have automatic rights to appeal a "not guilty" verdict. Because it's truly idiotic that we blindly accept a jury's decision when the suspect is found not guilty, but automatically question the jury's decision when the suspect is found guilty.

up
Voting closed 0

i think we should just get rid of not-guilty verdicts entirely

up
Voting closed 0

wut

so in your universe, there is no such thing as reasonable doubt?

Guilty is "beyond reasonable doubt."

Not Guilty runs the gamut from "not one scrap of evidence" to "totally guilty but we can't prove it."

Innocent means "definitive proof there's no chance of guilt," which in most cases is logically impossible because proving a negative is simply not a thing.

I...I just can't... no. You're guilty of being a big dumb-dumb stupidhead. There, "not guilty" obliterated.

What a brave new world that has such a-holes in it.

up
Voting closed 0

...but automatically question the jury's decision when the suspect is found guilty.

That's not how appeals work at all...I'm guessing you probably know that though.

Of course, it shouldn't take a Dookhan story to remind you that the system makes mistakes and we'd rather a hundred guilty men go free than have an innocent man in jail. So we establish that there are automatic reviews when it comes to capital cases and the guilty verdict of the jury isn't final until those are exhausted, but those reviews aren't of the jury's process but that the state did not railroad/screw an innocent man in a way the jury couldn't have known/foreseen when making their decision.

up
Voting closed 0

An appeal is not a retrial or a new trial of the case. The appeals courts do not usually consider new witnesses or new evidence. Appeals in either civil or criminal cases are usually based on arguments that there were errors in the trial’s procedure or errors in the judge's interpretation of the law.

Appeals by the prosecution after a verdict are not normally allowed because of the prohibition in the U. S. Constitution against double jeopardy, or being tried twice for the same crime.)

While some may disagree with the idea that the guilty should have appellate rights, the necessity and protection afforded each of us is too critical. Each of us is conceivably only one mistaken or malevolent witness away from a conviction.

Consider, for example, that the National Registry of Exonerations lists 1,579 convicted defendants who were exonerated through DNA and non-DNA evidence from January 1, 1989 through April 12, 2015 (20 of whom had been sentenced to death). Without an appeal process, these wrongful convictions would never have been corrected.

up
Voting closed 0

And I agree there is a need for the appellate system. However, I do not agree that appeals should be AUTOMATIC. That is the problem here, the "we MIGHT have made an error" mentality. Once a person has been proven guilty, we should accept that decision UNLESS the person and/or their attorney can reasonably prove otherwise.

up
Voting closed 0

What harm is there in confirming that a few of the ways we have frequently screwed up always get confirmed to have not been screwed up each time?

Every SOP goes through reviews and new checks against known high risks get added. Why should justice be blind to known risks?

It's possible that some form of insurance or other monetary instrument may ride on whether the person was convicted or under sentence when they died.

up

Yeah but suicide isn't insurable.

up
Voting closed 0

And since he technically wasn't convicted, does that mean the Patriots are obligated to pay him any money they may have withheld for violating a "moral turpitude" clauses in his contract?

up

Guys get cut/contract destroyed all the time for things where they don't actually get convicted but were suspected/involved/etc. with a crime or even some civil situation.

up
Voting closed 0

I think you might be thinking of people who snap and shoot up an establishment. This guy was shooting people before he got drafted, and continued even after signing for millions of dollars. So that gives me the impression he was just a shooter with an itchy trigger finger.

He certainly was not adept at committing murder, lest he wouldn't have left a man from Dorchester a mile from his house.

His father died from complications after hernia surgery, he didn't "get killed". By all credible accounts, his father was a singular force in keeping his kids on the right path, and it was after his death that AH began to go off the rails.

Nope, and the distinction isn't a subtle one either. But it's clearly beyond you.

If you just came here to chide us for being callous about the death of a murderous thug

I wasn't and I didn't. My comments have nothing to to with sensitivity towards Hernandez or even his family. Again, that's simply your failure to get it, and you will still not get it. I'm just bothered by the "let's get some cheap laughs" aspect of it. As I said before, if I were related to one of Hernandez's victims, I think I'd find this behavior asinine and painful to watch, not funny in the least and certainly not comforting.

27 year old football star murders 1 if not 3 (maybe more) people and eventually hangs himself in cell of maximum security prison in the middle of the night.

Odin Lloyd, a kid from Dorchester, murder victim

Daniel de Abreu of Boston, murder victim

Safiro Furtado of Boston, murder victim

Alexander Bradley, friend of murderous football star, shot in the face by murderous football star and left to die. Blinded in right eye permanently, vows revenge/murder

all three murder victims leave behind grieving family and friends

3 year old daughter of murderous football player will never know her father

4 years of children throughout New England having to ask parents about one of their champion Patriots murdering people in industrial lots and outside nightclubs.

I don't think any of this is very funny. Hernandez was a disgusting, horrible piece of garbage. Something or someone obviously went very wrong with this guys life somewhere along the way. He probably got everything he deserved in the end but Cappy making bad jokes about library books and suicide? Not even close to funny.

Are we 100% sure this was suicide? I mean, at the very least, isn't the timing suspect? Why would he wait until after he was ACQUITTED for the two additional murders, with a new, successful, and very talented lawyer who could maybe help him appeal his current sentence and get him out of the slammer? I still think he was guilty as sin, but you'd think he might be hopeful, not suicidal. I wonder if his victims might have had some friends who weren't too pleased with the verdict.

up
Voting closed 0

perhaps he couldnt handle the loss of street cred resulting from this???? shameful, to say the least!

up
Voting closed 0

What he thought about Hernandez beating the double murder charge, then appealing the first charge under the guise of "why would I kill someone over a murder(s) I didn't commit." Friend didn't think there'd be anything to that, which I agreed with. For what it's worth the guy mentioned Hernandez being extorted by some gang members in CT and that being the main reason he was still in the life for lack of better term. I'm sure the PCP didn't help either. I also wouldn't be surprised if Hernandez was killed in jail by someone else. Been trying to figure out how a person can hang themselves from a window that's only a few feet off the ground. No pun intended.

up
Voting closed 0

Self-asphyxiated would be more accurate - and all you need to do that is something to wrap around your neck and someplace to hang your weight on. You can do this sitting down or even laying down if you choose not to get up.

And intent to do yourself harm.

up
Voting closed 0

Height doesn't matter. Steady pressure is all that's needed. And it only takes about 15 kg of weight hanging on the neck to asphyxiate an average person by closing their trachea.
