Oh, now I remember. She's the reporter who in 2015 rode the T for the first time in her life. (At age 65.)

The same woman who hosted a PUBLIC AFFAIRS program on WGBH for 18 years called GREATER BOSTON and, coincidentally, lives in Back Bay herself.

The Red Line is broke but at least nepotism is alive and well.

(joking)

Seriously, though, she got started in her line of work with a little help from her daddy, pictured here:

Of course I know who she is.

From what I can see, she has never been hired by her family. She never worked at the same place her father did.

Just because someone works in the same field as their father, doesn't equal nepotism.

My father is a Dr (MD). My brother is as well. Dad didn't hire my bro, they don't even work in the same hospital. Is that nepotism?

Well, I think we all got some help from dad (and mom) in establishing our lives.

However, I don't think her father ever hired her, or that they even worked together in the same place.

Working in the same field as one of your parents isn't nepotism.

My dad is a Dr. (MD)....my brother is as well. He never worked for my father, nor worked in the same hospital. Is that nepotism as well?

A lot of nepotism does occur on the MBTA. That's partly why it's run so poorly.

Emily Rooney is horrible. Out of touch. Not sure why she's relevant.

to national fame that Emily will get.

Back when she was playing kissy face with Jay Severin, they both reacted to a fatal fire in West Roxbury by confusing it with (inner city, gasp!) Roxbury.

Who says she's an out of touch elitist?

almost pornographic in its wish fulfillment. People so desperate to win win win.

It's not really all that funny. I wouldn't go so far as to classify it as comedy (and 7 PM isn't late night, even for those of us who regularly watch PBS).

One memory that stands out about Emily Rooney is this. When a massive, heartfelt outpouring of runners (and others) hung their running shoes, bib numbers and messages in tribute to the four dead in the Islamic attack on the marathon, she called for the memorial to be removed as "tacky." That's all I needed to know.

It is not true that I criticized the Boston Marathon memorial in Copley Square - I was deeply moved by it - now when they recreated it in the BPL - that was another matter -ER

Emily, I watch Beat the Press as often as possible. You certainly did criticize the memorial, saying the items were up too long. I believe it was in the "Rants and Raves" portion of the show. I remember it because I was appalled. In fact, within short order, your friend Mayor Menino sent city archivists to take down the sneakers, bibs and messages to store them.

I don't always agree with you but I love you and John Oliver both

The Globe contacted her for a response, she said she thought his comments were "a hoot".

Please reference when and the circumstances in which she allegedly made this comment

You can view it yourself in the WGBH archives.

Emily had a knack for making tone deaf comments on her show.

Braude on the other hand is utterly insufferable and unwatchable.Jared Bowen should have taken over Greater Boston instead of being spun off into an irregular performing arts review show.

You know, poor John Fish, that poor multi-millionaire who was being talked about meanly by people because he wanted to bring the largest conflict of interest to Boston with the Olympics. She felt bad that he was getting picked on because he was so successful and rich!

We need more people like Emily out there, because if she won't blatantly cover up for her friends, who will?

Sorry, but this is incorrect.
