Man charged with trying to steal drinks from a vendor one of three who skedaddled after post-racist-rally arrests, DA says

Three men who were arrested in the post-rally melee that broke out Saturday skipped out on their arraignments today, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports - which means there are now warrants out for their arrest.

They are ADAN DAROBA, 22, of Boston, accused of attempting to steal several bottles from a vending cart near Downtown Crossing and then punching officers who intervened; ROBERTO BONILLA, 20, of Chelsea, accused of swinging a pole in the crowd on the Common and having a knife in his pocket during his arrest; and CHAD CRUGER, 18, of Saratoga, NY, who allegedly scuffled with officers near Tremont and West streets. Two men arrested with CRUGER were arraigned, released on their own recognizance, and scheduled to return to court on Nov. 8.

Innocent, etc.

...with our criminal justice system if you can (allegedly) punch policemen who intervene during an attempted robbery, swing a pole at a crowd of people, or scuffle with officers, and get released on personal recognizance.

It must be incredibly disheartening and frustrating to be a police officer these days.

In case you haven't noticed people wearing GPS bracelets on the 3rd illegal possession of a firearm charge and other summons for assault charges are routinely walking around and making appearances in the UHub crime section. This state can't seem to keep anyone violent locked up after convictions for very long, much less awaiting trial, yet throws the book at people for certain non-violent offenses with abandon.

It's like the system in MA is designed to make the most money for trial lawyers and screw actual justice.

Courts dont usually set million dollar bails for assault and battery, or petty theft. It wouldn't make much sense. Jails are crowded enough as it is.

What is being ignored is that some of the organizers of the march have openly encouraged physical contact with police, excuse violence against police and then bail perpetrators out. Their actions do not reflect the position of 99% of the counter protesters, but sadly their actions do.

What does this even mean?

I'm confused. Are these the good guys, or are these the Nazis?

But I wouldn't exactly call them "good guys" either.

I'm going to guess "none of the above".

So what then, they're on a mission from god, skipping out on a bar tab and demolishing police cars?

It was uncomfortable seeing Supt. In Chief Willie Gross leaning into his police radio earpiece as officers screamed into the radio for helmets, gas masks and every wagon in the city at the same time Walsh and Evans were aping Baghdad Bob saying there were few problems. Of course the media never played the police radio. Amazing stuff for those who heard it.

Is the Community Disorders Unit investigating the Elder Assault and attempted Unarmed Robbery while masked of "Sue" the American flag carrying wife of a U.S. Marine, who was dragged through the Common by the "good" guys? Is CDU working the profane intimidation of the Jewish gentleman carrying the flag of Israel? Eye Team? Spotlight Team? 7 News Investigates?

Good luck seeing the violent protester from Saratoga, NY. Massachusetts won't rendite / extradite short of murder so he gets away with it unless he returns to MA and encounters an officer/trooper who decides to run his name through the computer. Better chance of hitting Powerball. Free pass.

You're one of those "there's a lot of justice at the end of a rope types." That corporal punishment stuff always works or my name isn't Carl Panzram.

Keep that useless snark coming.

I guess that since O-FISH-L is the source of the comment, it doesn't matter what he writes--he will get lots of snark.

Now, then...do you have anything like an actual reply to his post?

Nope! He never posts anything in good faith, so I'm done trying to reply to him in good faith. I'm through feeding the troll.

No, petal -- when someone posts something that's transparently bullshit, it doesn't matter what the source is -- it's still bullshit.

I was listening to the scanner audio during the protests and this never happened. Prove otherwise with audio, or we know you're just desperately stirring up fake facts.

Go home, Trumpette.

But I read some of the police reports about what the arrested people did. Are you saying the police made up the information in the reports, because you didn't hear it for yourself?

leaning into his police radio earpiece as officers screamed into the radio for helmets, gas masks and every wagon in the city

Totally separate issue from what people were arrested for. And if any of this did happen, the information would NOT be contained in individual police reports concerning arrests on specific suspects. Breakdowns in radio procedures and responding to verbal requests for equipment, additional support, etc. from officers, again if they even happened, would be dealt with in what's termed an "after action" report accessing the overall operation. Such a report would not be prepared, nor any findings issued, until well after the rally.

Not to mention that the media, among others, routinely monitor radio traffic such as police and fire communications - especially during special events like the "Free Speech Rally.". If problems such as Fishy alludes to really occurred during the rally and/or its aftermath, I suspect we'd have heard about them by now - even if the police are maintaining "radio silence" (couldn't resist the pun) regarding the matter.
